You forgot to say you only get 2 episodes in that.
Also that another is limited edition just to let you know.
I would just buy figurines there lol.

Yeah, that used to just blow me away when I first saw that! Compared to that, folks in the US is getting a straight-up steal! Even the local nationals I worked with were surprised with how many episodes we'd get for what we pay! One of their expressions was:

Wow, I was really looking forward to buying lots of anime in Japan. I figured 10-15k dollars would be enough to pay for everything but not with those anime prices.

Us Americans should be thankful that the prices that are normally decided for units are cheap compared to Japan. For example, obviously, an entire 26-episode series BD/DVD that costs about $60 is the amount a native Japanese person may pay for a 1-2 episode disc. No wonder why Japan has had somewhat of a reverse import issue over the years.

everything in Japan in more expensive, but the people make more money too, For example, i live in Montreal Canada, here if you work at Mcdonald's you get payed 9$/h, but if you lived in Alberta Canada, you would get payed 20$/H to work at Mcdonalds, but the things there are more expensive too, its the same case for japan

I remember when american dvd's had 3 or 4 episodes per disc for about 30 dollars. And a compete series could take over year to compete.

Yes they make more money, especially in Tokyo, but they don't make that much more money. Anime in Japan costs 10 times as much as in the US, but the amount of money they earn isn't that much more. Average income in the US is about $42k per year while in Japan it's $48k per year. Also things aren't quite as expensive there as you might think, although things do tend to cost more. The exchange rate makes things seem more expensive because the Japanese yen is a strong currency at the moment.

This is why I stream anime. Then you don't have to go through the hassle of paying for something that you can watch for free.

Crunchyroll is cheaper for sure! I wanted to buy the Bodacious Space Pirates discs but on sale they are ¥4000 each!

Manga and light novels are cheaper however. Books and ebooks are getting silly expensive here and I would rather read in Japanese.

Well, animes in BestBuy. They're now starting to stock full anime box sets.

That's right, FUNimation, Viz Media etc... are releasing them in sets. Rather than single DVD formats. If it's in 23-26 episode format. FUNimation usually cuts the set in half (ala; volumes).

to be honest you don't get paid that much to work at mc donald's in Alberta. I lived in Calgary and Fort McMurray it's not what you think. I wish you could get that much an hr -- the most you'll get ever in Fort McMurray you'll get 13-14 and at Sobey's you'll get like 16.

When I import anime I ask myself two questions.
1. Is it a series or movie that's not likely to be licenses in the states?
My examples are 5 of the Digimon movies, The Ichigo Mashimaro OVA'S, and the Macross movie To you remember love?.

2. Does it have English subtitles?
My two examples are the Gundam Unicorn OVA and the blu-ray Ghibli movies.

So if your going to import anime think very hard before you invest.
