actually hit the ground one time i was on one of those rock mass type of things in utah or somewhere. i suddenly had the urge to jump and did. i hit the ground and it hurt. i woke up and found that i had climbed over the railing and had fallen(read:jumped?) out of the top bunk in my sleep.

i was climbing buildings and mountains with these claw things one time. i missed one and woke up even before i could fall. the shock of me missing the building was worse then my worst falling dream. Wierd no?

Did you die in the dream or?

No, I woke up afterwards crying like a punk.

These sensations are called hypnic jerks and happen usually when the person is under stress, poor nutrition, poor sleep habits, etc. When I get these, I always look at what I did the night before that would've caused it. Usually it's lack of sleep or too much caffeinated tea. I do love the tea.

Mine are usually super-jumps where I start running forward and jump like 200 feet in the air (about 7-800 feet forward) and do this horrible landing where i tumble and fall and roll out of it to do it again.(repeat) Those are only fun because when I wake up I have tons of adrenaline pumping through my system (it is hard to go back to sleep after those dreams though).

Often... My dreams usually end up before I wake..Or I don't have memories of them... Once we were in the car for a drive during summer and got stuck in the mud on a bridge. There was a huge white spider that got out of the water, came to get my parents and rolled them up in her web, then brought them back in the water... I tried to escape with my brother and my sister, but as we got out of the car, our feets got stuck in the mud...Then the spider came back, ate the bottom half of my brother in my face before wrapping my sister and I in web.. She brought us in the water, ate them in front of me one by onjavascript:void(0)e,before eating me slowly.. Enough long for her eggs to crack up and her babies to help her finish eating me.. It doesn't sound scary, but I was young and it kinda marked me XD I remernber it eveytime I get on that bridge...But it's a little different so I don't fear this crazy thing will get out..

Or the one where I ran in that weird place in wich gravity did not affect you.. Escaping from men in black costumes with dark glasses. It looked like those playgrounds they have in McDo,but bigger, and without the smell of fat and stickiness left by fingers behind .. It lasted for hours, and I ended up crashing down a vertical slide once gravity started acting again.. It was disgusting,I looked like blood red apple sauce mixed with red ice cram topping and bones there and there ...

I still find it weird that sometimes in my dreams i die/get killed, but i don't wake up.
My dream still goes on and i'm just watching everything that happens.
Like i see myself being dead and everyones reactions.
Its strange but intresting at the same time.
Like i'ma badass, living as a spirit lol. It happens every month.

I didn't have one with stairs, or falling off the bed or anything, mine was a little more.. scenic? I remember it clearly, It was the waterfall/flower field found in the heart of the farplane in FFX-2. I was falling off the waterfall and as always before hitting the bottom i woke up. Only had such a dream once though :p

I have the falling dream fairly frequently. The most panic-inducing one I've had was when I woke up while falling out of my bed, hitting the ground IRL at the same time I expected to hit the ground in the dream.

Of course, there's also the times that I've woken up while my brain still had my body immobilized from dreaming...that's also pretty freaky, especially after the dream where I was bitten by a venomous snake.
