been there, done that. as a man over 20 who can take care of themselves, I didn't have any worries. I'm sure many other people aren't that fortunate though. I had a great time though. I follow the pattern most do though, I'd known them for years. IRL meetings never occurred to me at first, until of my online friends was getting married. He wanted me there to be the one of his best men.

personally, people you meet online, if you talk to them consistently over time and build a real friendship, it can be better than real life friends. you don't feel like you have to save face, or be someone you're not. online gamers accept you as long as you are like minded and play well together. our group only has one real rule, you don't have to lie to fit in on ventrilo.

all in all, it's simple, you cant be stupid and rush to meet someone you just met online. trust takes time to build up in any friendship.

I've already done so many times before. Having become involved with the fighting game community I actually have gotten together with entire forums worth of online friends to meet up and compete our faces off in fighting games. A few of those friends have even become trusted life-long friends. As personal experience as long as you aren't just randomly accepting an invitation to meet up with someone you just met moments ago it's very unlikely that the person is lying to you about who they are.

I already did and it was fun , adventurous and somehow satisfying.
I was really depressived, bored and had thoughts like "Well I only life once , Let's do something rememberable"
We spend a lot of time together on the I-net talking about Girlfriends , Games , School , nothing really special
He then invited me over to his house , I agreed ... and I'm proud I didn't decline :)

Well the thing i just wanna say is that , if u really like him/her and enjoy talking with that person , you should take that opportunity.

(And yes i know there are a bunch of people just trying to lure you, but I had no doubt in my friend)

I don't understand how anybody could view meeting up people they have met online risky, dangerous or even strange.
how on earth would you make friends if you never meet people you didn't know.
I mean most people have made friends through school, college, clubs or work. These are all places your grouped together with strangers.
I just think it makes more sense to make friends based upon common interests rather than proximity and the internet makes that easy.
As long as you use common sense and meet in public places and let people know where you are going everything should be fine, you either make a new friend or you don't, nothing to lose but a friend to gain.
who knows you could turn out to be the crazy one.

The closest I got to meeting up wif someone from the interwebz was never. They're always in another state or something.
I would be lying if I said I've never wanted to see a good friend o' mine IRL but that's away from the point I think.
I'm sure if you can trust that person, and vise versa (shit I dunno how to spell), it would be fun!
Just know you're limitz.

I've met several people in person that I talked to on the internet. You have to be able to know who you can trust, but sometimes that's hard.

I've met people from my car forums at local meets. We just hang out somewhere, maybe get a bite to eat. I was really nervous my first time, but I got to know several of them pretty well. Actually, one of the guys I now consider a good friend. I hang out with him once in a while since we have other interests in common as well.

I've also met some people from anime/cosplay forums in person at conventions. The first time is always a little nerve racking since you don't know what to expect, but everyone is usually really friendly. It's great to meet people in person who share the same interests as you.

There are a couple people that I used to talk to online a lot, but I wouldn't dare meet them in person. They're like 6-8 years younger than me, and I'm sure people might see that as being a pedophile (even though I know I'm not). Some online friends are meant to stay as online friends.

Sure I would! I met my boyfriend for the first time in the beginning of September. We met on a game (Eden Eternal) last year in August and were friends for a while before "getting together." I went over to the Netherlands for a week, and I'm very glad I did. I plan to visit again next year, and we'll see how it goes from there.

I conceal carry a 1911 commando with giraffe bone grips. I'm fine meeting anyone because I'm not worried about any trouble happening.
