Post Anime Depression Syndrome.
Posted 6/21/12

A feeling of depression experienced after finishing a series of anime. PADS for short.

Symptoms include constant thought of the anime, very deep insight, ignoring the people around you, and feeling drowsy.

Some causes:
Being too attached to the characters
Being able to relate to the anime (For example, high school focused anime)

When a person suffers from PADS, they usually long for the life they had to be like the anime, even though they know it will never become reality.

Have you ever felt like this after finishing and amazing anime? If so respond with your thoughts and what anime brought you to this point in your life.

**Also please refrain in mocking other people if they have these emotions over an anime you feel was boring. I hope for this to be a open topic for people to discuss their emotions and maybe feel a little better after talking about it.**

I definitely felt this for manga; what would they call it, PMDS? (Not as catchy, unfortunately). The Demon Ororon made me depressed like you can't even imagine. I was freaking miserable for quite some time. You're so cool also had a similar effect on me (so much so I stopped reading it towards the end). Perhaps I'll go back to it, I'd like to

I can't remember if there's an anime that made me feel like that, though.

Depends on the anime, mostly I get a feeling of satisfaction, but occasionally I feel somewhat sad when one of my favorites ends, i.e. Soranowoto (way too short), Saki (still waiting for season 2)....

I've never been sent into a bout of depression by finishing an anime. If it's a series I was really enjoying, I may feel a bit sad that I've completed it. On the other hand, I don't like it when a story drags on forever either, so it's also generally satisfying when a series actually has an ending.

It's happened to me a few times. I can't really think of any examples, but usually, I'll wait a week or two before picking up a new series that season.

I've never wanted my life to be like the anime...in fact I've never imagined myself in any anime world...BUT

Different animes have sent me into a depression.

1. Serial Experimental Lane- In high school one of the first animes I've seen of this type had me a mental mess for weeks!

2. X-The movie (Clamp)- It's been years and all I can say is "What...the...heck?" My mind was numb. Worse because the manga is unfinished so I'll never know the real ending. I'm just stuck with a broken heart, and a still damaged brain that's stored the pain away.

3. Code Geass- Being older, I am more over dramatic and emotional than I used to be if possible. I actually laid down and wailed in my mind when it was over. Called people to tell them that this show messed me up. Chaos raged inside me...But yeah..nobody really paid attention to me. xD But it did! I'm still not quite over it. I just saw it this Month.

FMA: Brotherhood and Steins;Gate touched me like those animes. And even tho the above mentioned are my favorite animes as well, they left me mentally scattered while Brotherhood and Steins;Gate brought me peace and contentment.
