Preview http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=e-ItVSknzi8 Synopsis Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide The only way to escape is to 'clear' the game. Death in game means actual 'death' ---- The ten thousand who have logged onto the as of yet mysterious game 'Sword Art Online' using their Nerve Gear have been forced into this perilous death game and are trapped inside. Protagonist Kirito, one of the many gamers, has greeted this 'truth'. He plays as a solo player in the giant castle that is the stage for this game ---- 'Aincrad'. To meet the conditions of clearing the game and leaving this twisted virtual world, he must get through all 100 floors. Will Kirito have what it takes to clear the game, or will he die trying? Main Characters & Voice Actors Kazuto "Kirito, The Black Swordsman" Kirigaya Voiced by: Matsuoka, Yoshitsugu Kirito is the main protagonist of the series. He is the protagonist and is a "solo" player, a player who hasn't joined a guild and usually works alone. When it's announced that the players of Sword Art Online can no longer logout, he is surprised like everyone else, but unlike everyone else he quickly gets over it and accepts it, to an extent. Asuna "Flash" Yuuki Voiced by: Tomatsu, Haruka Asuna is a friend of Kirito and is a sub-leader of the guild Knights of Blood (KoB), a medium-sized guild of about thirty players, also called the strongest guild in Aincrad. Being one of the few many girls that play SAO, and even more so that she's extremely pretty, she receives many invitations and proposals. She is a skilled player earning the Title "Flash" for her extraordinary sword skill. Other Information Premiere: Saturday, July 7, 2012 @ midnight Studio: A-1 Pictures Network: Tokyo MX Type: TV Producers: Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, Genco Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Game, Romance Opening & Ending Opening Theme: "crossing field" by LiSA Ending Theme: "Yume Sekai" by Haruka Tomatsu First Impressions So, this is one of those series that everyone keeps hyping about and given the fact that Accel World's Reki Kawahara wrote the series may or may not given impressions already. Anyways, this is most likely the blockbuster of the Summer this time around and I hope it will certainly live up to the hype. |

Yea I'm also super excited for this series especially since I have read quite a bit of the light novels but I think that it is a bit to early to write this series off as the best anime of the Summer season... It's definitely one I'm most hyped for though. |

Darn boy you're quick, series haven't even started yet and you made the thread already.
Anyway this is one of the series I'm looking forward to this summer, hopefully it won't fall shy of my expectations. The LN is apparently hugely popular so assuming the adaptation goes well, all should be good. |

You're platinum mad.

Episode 1 or rather the preview episode already pre-aired in Japan on 24th of June from what I've heard. I've yet to see the stream up yet though, either Raw or Subbed. |

Considering that I never heard of this series before or ever... and .hack has been out for quite some time, I too will have to say it reminds me of .hack as well. :)
Its an interesting concept, Ill keep watching. |

Really? The first .hack game came out in 2002. Sword Art Online came out 2009. |

Oh, poor Atlas. The world's a beast of a burden...

But the light novel was originally a web novel, which started way back in about 2001, I think. It was only in 2009 that it was serialized in print.

Yep SAO was being published when hack was just announced it wasn't until 09 that it was published in book format. Anyway As a fan of the novels i was not disappointed. The anime was quite accurate to the LN's. The music, animation and casting were all about what i expected from PV's and i'm looking foreward to when the anime goes into the darker aspects of it. Favorite anime of the season by far so far. |
