Episode 1.

Wow, just wow. I've lost count of how many times this episode sent chills down my spine.

And for all you engineers out there, get to work. 2022 is your deadline

Episode 1

Well, well, this highly anticipated and overrated series is here. I guess it does live up to the hype and what not. Two of the main characters are introduced in this episode revolving around the world of SAO. A certain someone decides to put the players to test in the world and have them "complete" the game to ensure their lives will be spared.

So, far I liked this episode tbh. It has glorious animation, soundtrack courtesy of Yuki Kajiura, and an interesting concept. Asuna (the main heroine) of the series does not make an appearance in this episode so that was sort of a disappointment. But regardless, this series does live up to the hype imo and should be a good watch for this summer.

I loved the background art for the series the most, and if anything I will zone out the story (if its bad) and just gaze at the wonderful scenery lol.

Oh haha, anyone else thinking about Day 1 Blizzard Diablo 3 release while they are watching this?

>Players can't log in.
>Server down times.
>Day 1 DLC.
>Online DRM requires you to be connected to internet at all times.
>People's accounts getting hacked.

Then there's the Blozzdrones defending it:

>But it's just a BETA
>But it just got RELEASED
>But they'll PATCH IT

Huur durr MMO of the year all years, I bet SAO shipped millions of copies too.

Anyway time for plot hole Frodo. If the players can't log and gets hungry, how do they attend to their real world bodily functions? Also why not just use a EM device to fry the NerveGear, heck I can think of a hundred ways to destroy an electronic device instantaneously.
Sorry for long off-topic ish post, have a Frodo...

Yeah the whole not being able to logout thing is a bit... plot holeish. But its ignorable if the show itself is good.

Actually, the real world bodily functions problem is easily solved. Tubes for providing nutrients to the body without requiring actually eating already exist, and the other...issue can easily be solved in a similar manner. As long as all the players' bodies are brought to a properly equipped hospital, there's no problem on the body front. (Though, of course, too long spent without moving like that will cause their bodies' strength to degrade and eventually wither away, but that will take a while.) The light novel actually explained this all quite well.

And as for using EM to fry the NerveGear, I imagine that Kayaba would have reinforced the thing with those kinds of things in mind, genius that he is. Besides, with the very real possibility of the player dying if they try to meddle with it, I doubt people would take the risk of doing anything to the NerveGear unless they were 100% certain it would work. (Lives are at stake here, after all.)

The first ep was pretty awesome, this is definitely in the top 3 of most promising anime this season. Don't know if I'd put it at No. 1, but that's just because these shounen action types aren't usually my thing. We'll see how it goes, though. If the plot ends up failing, well, at least it's pretty to look at

well by the time episode 1 ends , the victims /players would be identified and by now they would have investigate how to undo the NerveGear

Like what eternal -dreamer said, this is how each of them would have inorder for their body to survive inactivity.

The victims would have an NG tube to provide nutirent and fluids , IV to provide fluid as well , foley catheter or condom cath for urine output and a poopoo bag . They should be in a bed that raise their back up and down. Compression machine on the legs, they need to be turned every 2 hours, and if possible be on monitor. Not to mention someone has to sponge bath them.

Anyway, doesnt microwave or EM waves requires a lot of energy depending on the purpose?

The damamge would be from microwave radiation. Usually the lower the frequency and the longer the duration of exposure , the higher the risk to health,.

So far this anime interest me , especially that insane creator of the game. I mean for what purpose , to wead out and eliminate online RPG gamers ?

This is actually an interesting thought. However, the design might have different circumstances compared to real life so have to wait and see. I've not read the LN yet but from sources I've been hearing, this part was explained in the novels but not as of yet in today's pilot episode.

In some ways, the creator of the SAO world also slightly reminded me of Deus Ex from Mirai Nikki but with different objectives of course. So in other words, he might be to setting up the game to create a champion (reference to God parallel to Mirai Nikki) which is beyond just "escaping" the world despite his original announcement to the players. In other words, to escape the SAO world and became a champion or possible new ruler? Hmm.

This is just a theory though imo so I'm not sure if it'll come true or not.

This is by far the anime that I have been waiting for all year and my most anticipated series of the year. Im a huge Fan of the Kirito and Asuna pairing. The first episode was a great way to put everything together and it didn't feel like it was rushed either. I kinda wish the put 2 episodes to air on the first day. But its great to know they have 26 episodes for this series so it's going to bbe a long couple months for this series. =)
