If you like Sword Art Online, you should also check out Accel World. It's by the same guy and is also currently airing.
Overall my opinion is that it is a good anime. But so far, it hasn't shown anything to make me label it as "great". I long for a truly good anime to come out, and I don't think any fit that category for this summer's lineup. |

I'm very surprised on how good this is. I'm completely hooked. I love Asuna! She's a total badass

I can see that everybody is worshipping Asuna
But true, she is one of the cutest female heroines (partially nosebleeding) |

The same creator or the main writer of the light novel Reki Kawahara. The writer is getting lucky. It looks like it has been adapted into 3 manga ,video game and the anime is suppose to have 25 episodes. While Accel World is adapted into 2 manga and also on going. For me so far, I liked Sword Art OnLine than Accel World. I also like both the young seiyuu for the main characters. Kaji and Matsuoka but i like kirito's character better. |

It's caught my interest big time...
I sort of want to project myself into it....and...beat the odds of survival... |

I like SWO but I don't like how the episodes have no flow to them, I'm hoping they will get more episodic as the series goes on.

I'm interested in how people think the anime will pace the content of the light novels. Because it's discussing the novels, there are light spoilers. I tried to be vague, so that I wouldn't spoil exactly what happens; but I do give away the timing of things such big fights.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Given the pace the anime has been going through the first few episodes, it seems to me like the anime will complete volume 1 in less than the expected ~24 episodes. My guess for the pacing based on the content in the light novels is as follows... episode #: chapters #'s - short description known 1: 2,3 - intro 2: ss Aria in the Starless Night 3: ss Red-Nosed Reindeer 4: ss The Black Swordsman 5: ss A Murder Case in the Area guessing... 6: ss Warmth of the Heart 7: 4,5,6 - cooking rabbit 8: 7, 8 - bodyguard, start dungeon 9: 9, 10, 11 - big fight 10: 12, 13 - duel 11: 14, 15 - first KoB excursion/test 12: 16, 17 - house 13: ss Morning Dew Girl 14: 18, 19 - cottage and fishing 15: 20, 21 - big fight 16: 22, 23, 24, 25 - the end of v1 I guess they could also do flashbacks to the content in the side stories First Day and Rondo of the Transient Sword, but they seem to be going in chronological order. Maybe there area few episodes they could get out of the ME/doujinshis, or by making "fillers" out of some events that are merely alluded to in the novels. I suppose they could try to put the ALO arc in, but I don't think they would do that. There isn't a whole lot of content in volume 1, so unless they really fill in the story, I think my content spacing is reasonable. And they seem to be following one episode per side story (though I think some of those could be two episodes). Anyone have any different opinions or expectations? @marksteele6: I agree that the flow of the episodes is a bit choppy, and I think some of that comes from how the light novel is written. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I feel that things are a bit choppy in the novels. One of main things I don't like is that volume 1 skips to the end of the story (in terms of the timeline), and passes over much character development and relationship building. The side stories outside of volume 1 fill in some of this character development (actually the recent and upcoming episodes are side stories), but I still feel it's missing some continuity even including these side stories. |

I will have to highly disagree with the bolded portion, as there isn't an MMO that I've played yet that doesn't clearly mark out the dangers of where you are and what you're facing Dungeons and Dragons Online and Dark Souls (just to name a couple) both make liberal use of ambushes, unexpected dangers, and traps. Even MMOs like World of Warcraft experimented with these things in their earlier days, but simply found that dumbing down the difficulty led to more subscribers. |

I won't say for DDO as I haven't tried that, but there were no such traps in World of Warcraft's early days outside of that one Rogue class quest with the treasure chest outside of Ravenholdt. Everything else(instances in particular, Scholo/Strath) was just stupid and predictable mob placement(entirely avoidable by panning the camera around any given corner before turning it.). |

I think they will go all out and go into Volume 2 of the light novel. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide They may try to end it after the first volume, but I think they would have to add content that is not in the original storyline to do this and end up with 20+ episodes. Also, everyone wants to see the hero and heroine together, which would mean going through the ALO arc. The first novel doesn't really convey Kirito's true character all that well - I think they will have to delve further into the storyline to truly capture his heroic nature. And of course, this is me wishful thinking and wanting to see the ALO arc as well. |
