Something was fishy about that fight and the fact that the single strongest combat "beater" loses on a 1v1 doesn't make sense. Heathcliff is the leader of the strongest guild so sure he's strong, but he's used to team play and is a primary defender. Kirito solo'd the strongest boss in game and yet a single guildmaster defeats him? Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Actually There is a special reason that heathcliff was able to beat kirito in that dual it is found out later in the LN and i cant say the reason without spoiling some major plot points. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide on volume 3 now. i really like how they added in volume 2 into volume 1 in the anime. |

Well exploiting ways to kill people is what the "red guilds" like laughing coffin specialises in, and it aint that weird considering the game.. i mean yea if he gets it into his system he is paralysed ok, so you just have to be careful not drinking water from people you dont trust, very much like in the real world.. and the "sex" chapter 16.5 in the novel aint really official.. but yea they do have sex |

I haven't started reading the LN yet but after this season (WILL there be a second season???) I will start.
;A;// I'm going to need something to feed my SAO addiction. |

I have been following the SAO anime since the start. Though I still have to watch the most recent episode. I heard a lot was cut out from the book. I hope a company picks this series up and brings it over. Then maybe we can get legal paper back books. I would love to read the novels. I don't like reading books online, I want to read them on paper. Also, Asuna is right next to Shana as my favorite anime girl.

Well I just steamrolled all 10 episodes that are currently out in one sitting. Before I even started watching I knew I would enjoy this series, seeing as how it combines my two favorite pass times. Anime and gaming. But I had no idea just how much I would enjoy this series. I almost wish I waited for it to finish before watching because the wait for the next episode is now killing me.
The only complaint I have so far is how I just lost such a huge, enormous, massive amount of the respect I had for Kirito in the last 5 minutes of EP10. Typical anime bullshit. At least he didn't spring a bloody nose and demand she put her clothes back on. Otherwise I would have put my fist through my computer screen. But so help me God, if they get married and he still doesn't do her, I'll lose all hope I have for anime altogether. |

I'm not saying they should have thrown in some doggy style followed by reverse cowgirl. But at the very least, Kirito also shirtless lying underneath the blanket with his arm around her would have been more than appropriate and PG enough for even the prudest viewers. |

I started out really enjoying the series... But a lot of things bugged me, like how a multi-million dollar blockbuster game apparently had a closed beta test program but never tested ANY of their end-game content? How characters will often scream out in pain or be forcibly moved even though no pain is actually caused, yet other times such as the scene with Kirito in the garden floor, they forcibly point out that no matter how many swords are poking out of you your body will be completely okay cosmetically. How NOBODY on the outside decides to just DDOS the thing (here's looking at you, Anonymous). How food doesn't provide nourishment, yet none of the players are wondering how they've survived for two whole years on nothing. And how the hell did the game make it past rating boards with actual in-game sex? It's like having GTA's Hot Coffee minigame on Xbox 360 Kinect.
I do like a lot of things about the show, such as the protagonist almost if not outright lying to the audience at the start and the 'slide to unlock' style ui is a nice touch. That being said, the plot is a little too reminiscent of SNK VS Capcom Card Fighter DS blended with that South Park WoW episode to be taken seriously. I was hoping this show would take the .hack concept and apply a liberal dose of feasability, but sadly, the show is a bit beyond my belief threshold. Don't get me wrong. Some of the best shows out there have completely nonsensical, irrational elements to them. But the beauty behind that is the show's creators don't even try to explain how the world works. It just does; and it does because that's what makes the magic happen and keeps the experience fresh and entertaining. But for a show like this, one that actually tries to explain things, the level of believability becomes crucial to enjoyment of the series. For me, sadly, it falls a little flat. I can still enjoy the show as it's meant to be enjoyed. But I won't praise it, call it a masterpiece or best show of the season, and I certainly won't reccomend it over others. It does a better job than .hack, but still not quite there. I'm sure some day, there will be an anime in the genre that either explains itself well or not at all, but this show is not that show. It's still a fun show, but not quite what it could have been. |

Haha, I suppose that's true, but there's going to be a lot more romance later on so I'm glad they don't go balls deep right at the starting line with the whole relationship thing. And yes, chapter 16.5 way, way, way, WAY too explicit for TV. Trust me on this one. He goes into great detail.. dndfreak wrote: I started out really enjoying the series... The beta-testers didn't have enough time to reach the end game content. And the end-game would be too revealing so I'm sure the GM's made it impossible at the time anyways. The pain thing they don't mention, but the novel does. They're not suppose to feel pain, but their brains see their body getting hurt and add it in anyways. Also, there's a fatigue system which is why they get tired. About the hack thing, I forget exactly but they do mention it later (probably 2 episodes from now). It's not really a spoiler. He just mentions that there was some fail-safe if they were hacked and everyone in the server would die. Later on it actually gets closer to Ghost in a Shell then .hack, so keep that in mind. A lot of people have already mentioned that the animators are FLYING through the story. It's not just that, Volume 2 (which are side stories of volume 1) are already in the anime. You'll learn about the food thing, I'm interested in how the anime will portray it, because with the novel it's easy to just write out. As a hint: the nerve gear has a back up battery that will allow no power for 2 hours before it fries your brain so the body can be moved. |

So like I said, there is nothing SAO can do that hasn't been done already. I wouldn't complain if that's how it was, but I don't even necessarily want that. I just want it to be clear. No room for interpretation. I want Kirito to be a character I can relate to. Until now, he's done a great job at that. Denying the beautiful woman he's in love with when she gets naked and gives him the green light, is simply not something I can relate to at all. |

Scientist have already successfully hacked the brain to get private information. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c8a_1346078977 There are already games out there that use just the human brain as the controller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exst_T3sDk8 I'm getting into game design, and this is definitely my ultimate goal as a game designer; complete immersion into a game. I wouldn't just make it swords though, I would have multiple classes like spellcasters and what not. |

I'm loving how they are going with the romance. I have no idea if that 16.5 is legit or not, i've read the chapter and i think that is not necessary. I've just read the LN first volume and is so impressive, btw. It's a pretty novel that i've read in years. I just want that they keep on this success. |

As a hint: the nerve gear has a back up battery that will allow no power for 2 hours before it fries your brain so the body can be moved. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide "The beta testers didn't have time to reach the endgame content" Two problems with this: First of all, I wasn't saying this is bad because it wasn't explained, but because of how it's explained. Again, it's just bad business sense. You don't release a game without testing content, ESPECIALLY when you have a dedicated testing team. It's not like they haven't signed NDAs and release forms anyways, seeing as part of the testing involves access to prototype perhipherals that TAKE OVER YOUR FREAKING NERVOUS SYSTEM. And yeah, I get that being evil overlord and all, the lead designer wants to keep it all under wraps from the testers. But he clearly changed a lot when shifting to his evil overlord version of the code as seen in the first boss's altered attack pattern, so why not make waves in the endgame content too. In fact, giving and then altering what players thought they knew would only make things harder (as again shown off in the first boss room). Not only would it keep people from being suspicious, but this method would also fit with the evil overlord designer's strategy. The second issue comes from where the information comes from - Kirito. At the point where he says the testers only breached floor 14 or so is around the same time he says he never made it out of floor one. It's when he's still lying to the audience and downplaying both his knowledge and skill. Then, not only does he reveal himself as a beater, he also mocks regular beta testers, saying not to group them on the same level. Even if he was telling the truth about how far the testers got, he also categorizes beaters separately and thus could easily have progressed far beyond the progress regular beta testers supposedly made. The pain thing IS mentioned in the show, albeit briefly in the first episode when showing whats-his-face the ropes. I know their explanation. The problem is the implementation. I get that sometimes it affects people and sometimes it doesn't based on the individual person's mentality upon getting hit. That's great. The problem is that garden scene. Not only is Kirito completely unflinching when hit by seven swords at once, he's also completely unmoved. First of all, he clearly shows his ability to completely negate the pain emotion here, but reacts to pain regularly in other episodes. Then the second problem is knockback. Even if the swords don't affect him reaction-wise or damage-wise, they should still manipulate his body on a physical level. In all other cases, when he or any other player is hit, their body is affected by the offending weapon's momentum. Just for this one scene, however, it's like the physics engine was just shut off for kirito's body and he stands there unmoving while getting pummeled. This is the inconsistency I'm talking about. The hack thing, I'll grant you that depending on how it's implemented. A DDOS attack doesn't actually alter any code, it just spams a server with requests until it overloads and crashes. Any hack failsafe would have to be client-side in order to stop a DDOS hit. I'm assuming the food thing is all the players were hooked up to ivs, i've assumed as much since the second episode. I was only raising the question of how come nobody in the last two years has ever thought to pose that question. I guess since you have an answer from the future via manga that it WILL eventually get asked, but I'm just saying you'd think that'd happen before now. Especially in more recent episodes that have at least in part focused on food. I notice you skipped over the whole game ratings board thing. I'm actually curious if that was brought up in the manga or not. |
