wolsaiga..
I hope your dad is better. I was annoyed of that part in the anime as well because I myself was unable to get up and walk for a month and got really weak and lost weight because I could not sit up to eat . So I look for the novel ,found it, read that chapter and It made me feel better because the novel had so much realistic detail in that part. SPOILER ok Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Kirito actually could not even lift his arm , he tried to lift his arm but only managed to lift his hand then slowly moved in front of his body and face,he could see his veins thru his skin and saw the IV line, followed it , looked at his surroundings and still not sure where he was and then motioned his left hand to check and nothing happened. Thats when he realized that he has returned, but he died in SAO and then he remembered what Kabaya last told him that he and Asuna cleared and thats when he tried to say Asuna but his throat hurt and then he still was confused if everything was just a dream but he realized that Asuna exists and felt a need to find out if she is back . He tried to get up ,but his head was still strapped, Something was heavy on his head but barely managed to take the nerve gear helmet off. He struggled to sit up and looked at the helmet , Then he heard commotions ,footsteps, wheels. He pulled of his lines off, tried to get up, but his knees buckled, but his need to find Asuna made him gather more strenght , grab the IV pole and took his first step to the door . but the novel has more details. So I would have made that part dramatic but the anime did that part in 1 minute 20 seconds before the end music began |

Yea, the novel did a better job showing just what getting up did to him, and just how hard it was. He was moving by sheer will, which is understandable since he had managed to survive two years and that game, and had someone to find.

wolfsaiga wrote: like i said, 2 years woulda left him completely helpless. my dad was in bed for nearly a year, but at the end he managed to get up and get himself out of bed, although he fell on his face but he did conjure the strength to pull himself out of the bed. This is a very common failure (or "plot needs override reality" point) in virtually any entertainment, be it anime or live action. One of the few times I remember a movie not having someone be able to get up and walk after being in a coma for a long time was a Steven Segal movie, but even it ignored the fact the same would apply to his arms and upper body strength in general. |

Yes, that's my real age.

It sure is and being in the medical field myself , seeing those inconsistencies annoys the heck out of me.

Unless they mess up the adaption totally, Kirito is still going to be undergoing therapy months later. I think his standing up and walking away was more to show just how much he wanted to find Asuna (after all, he defied the game's absolute control over them to avenge her, do you really think he's going to let a little thing like physics stop him?), not that he was unaffected by the stay.

I would agree that Kirito being able to get up after being in a bed for 2 years was unrealistic, but it was just to show his will to find the girl he loves. It was romantic and hero-ish. Overall liked the last episode. It was a solid conclusion.
My only gripe was that they only completed 3/4 of the game so it seemed rushed, but whatever. I was loving all the different environments and wouldn't mind a few more episodes show casing them and the amazing animation. Totally wanted to see the Ruby Castle. |

Fight scenes are okay, but the show as a whole is only mediocre at best. Far too many writing flaws to ignore at this point.

I thought a few things seemed rushed in Sword Art Online. I wish Asuna x Kirito didn't happen as quickly as it did. |

I'm watching the series right now and I'm currently on episode 9.
while, ignoring any realism and just take it for pure entertainment, I really like the anime so far. A few aspects of it reminds me a lot of .hack//Sign. One drawback is there's no magic and job system in this which I didn't like. Tho the series isn't mndblowing or anything new, it's still very entertaining and addicting. |

They actually muse on only having completed 3/4 of the game later, and it does come up to a certain extent.

I absolutely LOVE this anime and i'm kinda sad they only put out 14 episodes. It did seem kind of rushed but I thought the ending was beautiful. It def made me cry xD

So you don't realize that episode 14 wasn't the end of the series? This was set to be a two cour series from the start. If you still don't believe me, just check the series page. |
