Really, not much is happening in the episodes, but somehow it's just so gripping and epic.

There was a comment on the the first ep that said this idea was played of too much. I haven't seen many things like this (besides Spy Kids 3), but I believe this is the best way to do it.

Episode 2. Good episode, not as great as the pilot since I didn't like the MC's sudden change of heart. I mean, he was so wimpy then he becomes this beater bad guy? I still enjoyed it though. The girl MC is really cute! I hope they team up again in the futureeeeee. |

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?

Is too video gamey for me perhaps they will expand the concept out a bit I hope. Was sad when he dissolved his little two player guild. If I keep watching then I hope they get back together.

animation on the action sequence was awesome.
I feel bad for that other beta tester, I guess that one didnt know that weapon? I am not sure why he switched personality and lying but he is a loner afterall Not bad episode. The seiyuu for Kirito, Mastunaga , sounds very similar to Okamoto |

Good job overall. They captured the feeling of a raid pretty well. I like the new character, Asuna. She's obviously important so I'm looking forward to seeing more of her.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Kirito's choice to anger the other players doesn't seem like a good idea. He's obviously treating it as Debiru's (aka Devil?) last request, but if there is open PvP in this game he'll end up ganked. Maybe he'll need Asuna as a bodyguard. ;) Looking forward to ep 3! |

The story is brutally honest about the gaming trends and cancers like traps(ep. 1) and noobs(ep. 2). I bet things get darker on later episode.
One question though.... Why can't they just use EMP to destroy the Nerve Gear? I'm pretty sure that it is not design to withstand strong EMP. |

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

Well, you'd have to put the people in a shielded room and then hit them with the pulse for that to work. But, I'd be worried about fail-safes. A maniac that puts together a plan to trap 10,000 people in a game would probably have a number of ways to prevent the authorities from rescuing the players. There's no guarantee the headset isn't hardened against an EMP pulse, or that there would be a trigger to fry the player anyway if the system starts to fail. |

I don't fault Kirito for going solo at the end. It's frustrating when people panic in these shows and look to blame someone rather than find a solution for a problem. One idiot and half the fighters were swayed that beta testers were evil. Kirito wasn't wrong in his assessment that the final release's players were better off than the beta testers, but he was wrong to completely alienate everyone. I'm not sure it could have ended any other way.

So after watching the first 2 episodes, I bolted over to Baka-Tsuki and powered through Volume 1 of the novel. What a great story. Now I'm really excited to see what I read adapted into anime form!
Seriously, .hack doesn't even begin to hold a candle to SAO. As bad as it sounds to get trapped in a virtual reality game... I wouldn't mind.... lmao |

Click to show or hide In the 2nd episode, he realizes that it is the wrong weapon (different from the beta test game) before the beta tester who is going to attack it. Also, the reason he lied like he did is because he didn't want everyone else to alienate the beta testers and start mistrusting each other. I also think there would have been other ways, but as he is portrayed as not very socially adept, it seems as though that is the best he can think of. On a different note, I am completely obsessed with this series now. I went out and bought a few RPGs for the 360 and played them and am now looking at new online/computer ones solely because of this series. |

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the first episode. I just finished Steins;Gate a few weeks back, so I hopped on here out of curiosity and now I'm pretty pumped for the next episode. I like how this first episode doesn't really waste any time, it gets right into the (apparent) premise. I'm also excited to see Yuki Kajiura on for the music, loved her stuff in Madoka Magica (and funnily enough, she composed the music for .//hack sign too back in the day)
