he is grinding with the guild in the morning and grinding solo at night, he's solo after all. grinding at night is his favorite time, less people

Keep in mind the first "Arc" of Sword Art Online (counting side stories) is 2 Volumes of the Light Novel.. So it will probably cover all of the 24-26 episodes. I'm just hoping for season 2 :P

Falling into treasure guardian's ambush unintentionally is a beginner's mistake. Since Moonlit Black Cats are members of PC Research Club IRL, they should have at least have a little knowledge about traps and ambushes in RPG(unless it is their first time playing one). The Black Cats' leader seems to be only one who knew the basics of gaming otherwise they would have been annihilated long before they met Kirito. Well, I can't blame people for making mistakes, but only in this game, you pay for your mistake with your life.

My verdict for this episode: The story is still great but a little bit predictable.

Aww man the cliches, and all those death flags for second best girl (second girl for that matter).

I'm glad this didn't air around Christmas or I would have been hit a lot harder...

Another thing I forgot to mention. Was it only me who noticed and thought it was funny that first he's level 40 and then literally ONE dungeon later he's level 48. My god he levels fast, how many monsters is he slaughtering anyways? xD

Mother of leveling... Kirito needs to get a life... wait...

Well if we assume that level 99 or 100 is max then he's soon there. Lol.

just curious, what kind of time frame do you guys think this episode happened over?

at first it seemed to be a relatively short time frame to me but then something about the message she left at the end made me think that maybe it wasn't all that short of a time frame.
it makes me wonder even more considering there was at least two months between the start of the first episode and the second one.

Thank you, LN readers-that actually clarifies the problems I had with the episode. I was really confused as to how the levels meant ANYTHING, given that if anything, on one hand, they may have asked him to join anyways to have some back up muscle, or at worst, just not let him join up. I didn't see the correlation. With that information, it makes a bit more sense. Still a pretty hard hitting episode, and it's amazing how likeable Sachi was despite that they cut out what I feel was some really interesting information about how close she was with Kirito.

Also, since we saw guild-to-guild combat before Kirito fought the Xmas boss, perhaps the series will touch on player-killing. *shivers* A nasty thought, but SAO's shown it's not afraid to be really dark at times. Really unique for a shounen demographic show [I assume?] to waste no time being a tad depressing. XD

Also, a lot of people have griped about the pacing. I don't really mind it-the game's proven to be QUITE slow paced, I mean, clearing floor 1 took a month, real-time. We have plenty of shows that focus on day-to-day life, and if this is only a one or two cours [12-24 episode] series, I don't mind them jumping around to the most significant events in the timeline. Do the light novels run similarly, or take their time with anecdotes and such? They regularly give dates, so it's not that jarring for me personally.

I noticed it, but thought maybe he'd accomplished a couple of things on his own between the two events, and thought there may have been time/experience enough between them for it to not be that odd. (I'm not a gamer, and am not paying enough to the technicalities in SOA to recognize whether or not that was unusually fast progress.)

What a sad episode. There's plenty of RPGs I've played that had that one dungeon or area that wiped me out before I was ready to go there. There are the invisible borders that have one type of monster you grind out to higher levels and the going too far and coming up on a hoard of monsters that have the ability to put you to sleep and then kill you. It's sad that they didn't find the chest suspicious, also too bad there wasn't a skill like peek to see whether it was safe or not.
