Back to the waiting game I guess. Though I've got plenty of anime on my 'watch list' to keep me occupied

This thread is getting longer and longer.

I have been actively watching this thread ever since SAO began and yes there are peeps who hates SAO just because its popular but I feel more are just disappointed . A lot of gamers were disappointed and a lot hated the plot changed and some hated the side stories and a lot didnt like the drama .

I like SAO for the concept, the story and mainly the characters. And yes it has a big weakness and thats the production fault for getting it approve for just 26 episodes/ Squeezing in the Aincrad arc in 12 episodes along with the side story .Since I read the novel , I can see the potential that they missed in making this anime really exceptional. But I felt the they made this anime for the eye of those who has read the novel already and not for the eyes of who hasnt .

I enjoyed SAO. I've not read the Manga; although, I saw a poster a few weeks ago mention a spoiler from it and it has me curious. I'm not going to say what that was here, though. :)

I can wait to see what happens with a possible continuation.

Should be getting 4th special edition Blu-Ray in the mail tomorrow, then putting an order in for the 5th special edition!

Hope the good sales continue so they make another season!

For all those awaiting a sequel to SAO, it has been mentioned on other SAO threads here on CR, but thought I'd mention it here as well: An anime adaptation of the "Log Horizon" LN books has been green lit. So regardless of when exactly they give the green light to another series in the SAO franchise, you should at least be able to get some kind of MMORPG based anime before the end of the year. So I guess that's something at least.

I luckily missed a lot of the heated discussions thankfully. My husband watched the show when it was airing and specifically told me NOT to read the forums and make my own decision if I liked it or not. I'm glad I did. I did finally read all 90 pages just on CR alone and was stunned at the vitriol for a show I really enjoyed. I mean.. I should be used to it at my age but I was surprised how much vitriol based solely because it was popular (I know it wasn't the only reason) or worse.. because they "heard" something about it and went head first based on assumptions on a show they never watched. I'd rather have a discussion with someone who saw it and came up with a different conclusion than the "well I heard" people.

As usual with any popular series, there's always bound to be a few people like that who delight in spewing their hatred. More often than not, it's just immature and childish posturing in order to gain some attention. If you look through the threads, it's always the same handful who goes from thread to thread to proclaim how bad the series is.

Of course, regardless of how good anything is, not everyone's going to like it. But some of them are a little too obsessive in trolling the threads whenever the word SAO is mentioned.

SAO just happened to be the latest series. Every season, every year, if a series becomes particularly successful and popular, these people will be guarantee to come out.

I enjoy SAO, I was unsure about the second arc/second half but it went beyond my expectations. I see another 2 seasons easily. I can see them doing a mech arc with various models from every game/anime with them. Betting there'll be a clan called gundam.

I can also see them doing a racing game, where the vehicles change into aircraft, race cars or boats.

Either way the story goes, I can't wait for more.

Very much agreed. I'm happy I gave it a chance. Then again usually I tend to like stuff my husband recommends so I'm happy I avoided the vitriol in real time..

No idea. The anime itself hasn't even been broadcast yet 'cuz they're still making it. It's projected to be released as part of the Fall TV lineup.

For all of you that hate listening to Japanese audio, and haven't heard yet then you'll be happy to hear that there will be a English dub made.

So I just watched the first four episodes and I think this show is good but not great. From what limited footage I've seen, I dont think that this show has lived up to all the hype it gets and I hope things really start picking up. Before you throw me into the fire and called a satanist, I will say this: I am still open-minded about this show and will continue watching it because four episodes is barely anything and I can't really judge an anime based on four episodes unless its absolute dog poop.

So with that being said, yeah I like the idea of Sword Art Online but Jesus Christ that show goes fast. At first I had to check to see if I was accidentally skipping episodes or what. At the end of the first episode, he parts ways with the redhead (sorry I dont remember the names, sue me) and he says that he travels alone.... Ok... well in the beginning of the next episode, he immediately groups up with a girl and it appears as if they have built a strong relationship and I got the feeling that she will be key to the story's plot. However, in the third episode, she is not even mentioned.... The story picks up with him joining a guild and Kirito becomes emotionally attached to another female and one of the members of the guild.... So then I thought she would be a main character... 10 minutes later, her and a bunch of other people are dead and at the end of the episode Kirito is crying over her... Am I supposed to feel saddened that a girl who was in the story for 10 minutes died??? The fourth episode and the last episode that I saw was more or less the same. Kirito meets a girl and the girl likes him and at the end of the episode, they part ways..... Wtf?????

Why does this anime move by so fast???? Kirito goes from level 1 to level 78 in the first four episodes!!!!!!!!!! There could be like 10 episodes in between each of the first four episodes!!!!!!!!! I know I know, I'm only four episodes in, how can I criticize this show... so maybe I should go suck a wet fart out of my grandma's ass and hold it in like a bong hit... But come on....

I still have hope for this show because the only reason for why they made this show go by so fast in the beginning is if theres some crazy ass, wonky plot twist that blind sides the shit out of my ass.

So... yeah. :)

The early time skips have to do with how the story was adapted; they accelerate through the first two years fairly quickly while having very short and quick stories introducing the characters people would've wanted to see from the books.

It didn't bother me particularly much, honestly. I kind of liked it.

Either way though, soon it'll settle primarily into Asuna and Kirito's storyline and stay there for the rest of the series.

There are some twists, but the first half of SAO is pretty easy watching. The transition into the second half of the show was -really- dark, and might've polarized quite a few people (not really sure what the overall response to that was).

In general it's a good show; and they do stop jumping around so much after the first couple episodes.

Yeah, I mean... I just really wondered what happened to the characters like the girl who is in the opening of the show and in the second episode. I will watch more episodes tomorrow and see if the show picks up.

Edit- Also, sorry about the thread and posting in it after you said to post in here. Did not catch that.
