Anime isn't childish. Middle-aged adults (especially parents) seem to think it is, though.
My mom watches anime, she loves anime. But some of my friends parents shun anime...they think it's immature. Teachers, too. Once I was late for class cause anime club ran late..and when I told the teacher where I was, it just made him more angry.  |

Anime has been manipulated in the past years.
They've come up with all sorts with many genres.
The newer animes seem more childish in my opinion.
It's pointless mind crap, but the older ones had a bit more grasp on the IMPORTANT concepts of life.

There are enough genres out there to satisfy almost every taste. My daughter and watch it together, I usually watch first to see if it is appropriate for her. I am 40 and have been watching anime since I was a kid. The first anime I ever watched was Starblazers.

I don't believe so, I'd say it depends on the anime.
There are a lot of violent, serious, and adult-rated anime.
People stereotype anime that way because all they see is cartoons and probably only think of Pokémon and Sailor Moon.

In my opinion, anime is not childish. My sister also finds that anime is very childish, so I guess I can relate to your situation. I think that people find anime is childish because it's "cartoon".
Of course, anime IS "cartoon", but it's a cartoon with a storyline and a lot of the time, a hidden moral that no "child" would understand.
Not to be mean, but this is how I see things: I find that your friends (therefore also including my sister) are the ones who a little childish because they are unable to relate to other people's interests. If they can't accept that you like anime, which is not at all like drama, than they're the ones who have not matured enough...

I dont think its childish....infact i think that its kinda cool but thats just my opinion...as for dramas,i cant say that i hate dramas though...cuz i have been watching drama since lyk i was small and so i love both drama and anime^^ dun care about what others think... just carry on watching wat u lyk |

Yes. Depending on the genre of the anime. I cannot catch myself watching Shugo Chara and all that ridiculous anime..
Stuff like Gintama with adult humor and adult characters are still fun to watch.
Adult humor gets me, kinda like. South Park. South Park is better than most anime series.

Asking "is anime childish?" is like asking if TV is childish. Sure, there are some TV shows geared towards children, but also plenty geared towards teens and adults. It's the same with anime. Some are geared towards children while others are geared towards other audiences.
