cartoons are childish, anime is not (for the most part). Sit through Clannad AS and you will be convinced that it's not.

Yes...

And no...

If you were to ask me, it's a good thing if it's a mix of both.

it's absolutely not childish! i think it's better watching anime than watching those stupid dramas...dramas, basically their storyline are all the same..it makes me sick...but if you watch anime...you get to learn many things...friendship, family, love, loyalty, you realise that everybody deserve a second chance...sometimes it makes you think how kind and how evil human can be...in short, you can learn a lot about the world by watching anime rather than watching dramas...sometimes when you watch dramas, they're all the same faces that you saw...they keep using the same actor and actress...if you watch anime, the art are different and the look of the character are different...you will never saw the same faces in two different anime...and anime is more exciting...they should understands that not all anime are for child...in short, anime are not childish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm........ This happens quite a lot to me..
In my country, they don't sell anime DVD's nor manga Magazines....
So, most people don't know what anime is and consider it as kids' cartoons..
It's really rare to find people who actually know those stuff exist.....
And if you're caught watching or reading anime and manga..
Like you said...
They'd give me that "look" that tells how childish you look to them...
They would also ask "how can you watch these things?" and "don't you get tired of these stuff" and then might ask you what you're doing and see you watching anime or reading manga and go like "what are these Japanese stuff you watch? aren't they all the same? why don't you ever finish them?"

I tell you it's normal for people not to appreciate things they haven't tried, humans are selfish creatures after all....
I'd also like to say that you could just ignore them and do what you want.. It's your life.. live it to your fullest, and enjoy it!!!

Well the fact is little one.. Anime is to the most part childish being that most anime around 90% of it is made for kids 12years or younger.
So to call animeeshun Childish would not be wrong, because the majority of it is for young and small infants.

As a fan of J-anime for a little over 25 years I believe its not a insult to be childish. I quite enjoy much of the Childish antics depicted in those Japanese Cartoons.

check out the ages ( well some r true) we have a wide variety of ages here in the fourms so why is it childish, i dont remember learning about guns fighting and smoking to be good childrens influences, and anime has that sure americans have downgraded our cartoon shows in a cheap means to gain capital, but must we conform to the western society, which undoubtly has accepted anime in a popular demographic of adults

What about Elmer Fud.. did he not use a gun to try killing rabbits.. Samidy Sam?
Conan the adventure used his sword to kill snake demons, Batman fights with thugs with weapons, an they depict violence.

Wen you look at the rating over in Japan you find most of there animeeshun is made for people under the age of 12.. 90% of it, that includes 99.999% of all shounen.

(90%) is a little more than some. An their is nothing wrong with that.

Sorry about the child remark but if your under 16 to me your still a child in my eyes. Nothing personal.

Nope. If so, they are childish. For wasting time on teasing: "Why u watching these kiddie shows?"

Reply: Y so serious?
