Fall 2012 anime

Ninjahare wrote: Those guess aren't that bad, but Funi usually only gets about 3 or 4 shows at best a season so I think you could cut a few things off that list. I also think Viz may end up getting more than one simulcast this season. They did get 2 shows for the spring and with them trying to push the Neon Alley thing they'd need to acquire as many new shows as they can to put on there eventually to attract more users so I could see them becoming a bit more aggressive with simulcasting. Guess we'll see how that goes. Fall and Spring are the big seasons for anime, and Funimation has indicated that they want to expand their presence in the simulcast market(note: Funimation's defination is simulcast is to start a month late, and catch up after the show has ended. Although they've gotten better at it). We are also coming up on the 1-year anniversary of the "Funico" announcement, and I suspect that Funi will want to try for another big slate at NYAF/NYCC(that also fits into when they announce their "simulcasts": a week after it's starting to air). So I was thinking 6 to 8. I am the most unsure about Code:Breaker, Psycho Pass and Girls und Panzer of those that I listed going to Funimation. And off topic, but intersting nonetheless. Another Sentai catalog title added to Crunchyroll. Ef~ Tale of Memories http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/09/17/crunchyroll-adds-ef-a-tale-of-memories-anime |

Guess we'll see how that goes. In addition to what pistolsaf stated, six new simulcasts would be on par with what they were getting in the Funico days, as well as their own previous simulcasting height in summer 2010, so that wouldn't be much of stretch. Technically, Viz had 3 new simulcasts for spring 2012, but one of those (Rock Lee) was shared with Crunchyroll. They have had two simulcasts running together in the past (typically one two cour and one single cour) even before this spring, so with both Lagrange and Accel World ending, I believe you are correct that they are likely to try for two simulcasts this time. |

Also, Funimation may end up licensing series that they were not willing to sign up for before the season started, as they did with Steins;Gate. While we don't expect overlap between Funimation simulcasts and CR simulcasts, its quite possible to see overlaps between CR simulcasts and (eventual) Funimation licenses. I also think Viz may end up getting more than one simulcast this season. Guess we'll see how that goes. Since they seem to be streaming dubbed only, I wonder whether they want to take on the financial demands of three or four dubs just based on Neon Alley. But I agree that they could very well notch it up from one to two, especially if they look to share the load by sub-licensing to Anime-on-Demand in the UK. |

(Sentai sublicense) Magi-Labyrinth of Magic (Aniplex USA will license it) Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (Sentai sublicense) Medaka Box Abnormal (slam dunk. Sentai sublicense) Hiiro no Kakera 2nd season (listed as continuing series. Slam dunk) Funimation Shin Sekai Yori Jormungand: Perfect Order (already been confirmed so slam dunk) Zetsuen no Tempest BTOOOM! Code:Breaker Girls Und Panzer (It's basically Strike Witches with tanks isn't it?) Robotics; Notes Psycho Pass (even though Funi's fanbase likely won't know who Gen Urobuchi is) Viz Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Sentai/TAN (that likely won't be on CR) To Love-ru Darkness (I would love to be wrong on this and see it on CR with the previous seasons) Oniichan anime - probably not. Funi will probably get it. Magi - I highly doubt AOA is going to get it. It'll be either viz or sentai probably. Shin sekai yori - This is the exact oposite of the type of shows funis been getting so hell no. Zetsuen and code breaker will probably be licensed by funi. Girls and panzer - Seems more like a sentai license but we'll see. Robotics notes - Funi will probably get this but im really hoping they dont. Psycho pass - Sentais been getting all of the noitamina anime lately. This will be no different. jojo - Probably given whos funding the anime/producing it (WB) |

Apparently, TBS is involved with Chuuni Byou de mo Koi ga Shitai, and it will have 12 episodes and the official English title is "Regardless of My Adolescent Delusions of Grandeur, I Want a Date!"
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/09/21-1/kyoanis-ch-2-by-de-mo-koi-ga-shitai-gets-official-english-name Based on TBS involvement, I'd say the chance of anybody simulcasting is low unless it's licensed and then it would likely be a delaycast anyway. |
