Only 12 + about 2 to 3 new simulcasts only? Fall has at least 40 new shows and they're only getting less than half? And only 1 Worldwide outside Japan license? CR sure has declined.

And a few of those are children's shows which Crunchyroll usually doesn't stream. We still don't know what Funimation will simulcast other than Jormungand: Perfect Order and if they act particularly aggressive, they could have gotten 7. Viz has only announced 1, and they could be looking for a few more too. Also the 3 TBS shows that TAN has exclusive rights to for North America.

Worst case: Funimation gets Kamisama Kiss , Oniai, Code: Breaker, Say "I Love You", Pet Girl of the Sakarasou, Psycho Pass , Robotics;Notes . Viz adds Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Little Busters (both of those are produced by WB Japan)

I am inclined to think the last two boxes are Aikatsu! and Medaka Box Abnormal. We'll probably also see the live-action YTV show added later too.

Maybe we'll still be surprised by what Crunchyroll does.

Its not really what Crunchyroll does, though ... it what the licensors of those series that don't get an R1 license do. What Crunchyroll has already done is to let everyone know they'd like to stream their series.

So, for instance, this week, or even next, we could well see a set of shows who were hoping to land R home video license admit to themselves that they aren't going to get it and say "OK" to Crunchyroll's bid. Given the number of series being premiered, that could easily be five to ten shows.

I'm pretty sure that Medaka Box Abnormal TV is not one of the last two, because I expect it to be one of the next two ...

... and better than 90% chance the next two aren't going to end up being the last two. Its too early in the premier week. More deals are being negotiated, as we speak.

Funimation had stated earlier in the year they were planning for more simulcasts in the fall, and we'll likely have another 8 - 11 days to see what they have aside from Jormungand: Perfect Order.

You also seem to be assuming that CR isn't going to be adding more than one box to the lineup page as they go forward. Given how early we still are in the month, and past history, I certainly wouldn't take that bet.

Frankly, the biggest surprise this season was TAN getting back into the (exclusive) simulcast game.

Updates to initial post:

Added information on Crunchyroll announcement of simulcasts of Girls und Panzer and Magi.
Added information on Anime on Demand announcement of simulcast of Magi.

EDIT:

I realized about 7 hours later that I had omitted the Hulu stream for Magi. I will try to remember to include that in the next update, which should be Thursday evening.

Well it seems that as expected Medaka Box Abnormal is one of the remaining slots. Curious what the other one will be.

Today's announcement is Medaka Box Abnormal
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/10/04-1/crunchyroll-to-stream-medaka-box-abnormal-anime

Medaka Box Abnormal will be available to Crunchyroll’s audience in the following territories: U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Medaka Box Abnormal is set to broadcast every Thursday starting on October 11, at 11:35 pm Pacific Time for its premium members. Free members are able to view one week after initial broadcast on Crunchyroll, starting on October 18.

EDIT: As expected, To Love-Ru Darkness has been licensed by Sentai.

Wonder if that will be the 4th TAN exclusive or if Crunchyroll gets thrown a bone.

I finished watching K ep 1 using Anime on Demand, and their stream was actually quite good.

Some observations:
- It's actually on time (for now)
- Video quality was very watchable. It's far from perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than Viz's hulu stream (and I'd say better than Hulu plus too).
- I had some buffering issues at the start, but after pausing for a minute the rest of the episode played fine
- Subtitles are very small, but that's how I like them anyway
- Proxy friendly

Given the wording in the CR news post for MB 2 i suspect they have either little busters or psycho pass since those two are the most hyped shows of the season.

Throwing Crunchyroll a bone? More like whether they'lll want to ask Crunchyroll to chip in on the license.

It could go either way, since the announcement of the three exclusives to The Anime Network said:

Ok, let's get on with the announcements! Very soon we'll be premiering a bunch of new shows, but more importantly, three shows (so far) will be available exclusively to Anime Network Online Subscribers. These shows are: ...

However, if we see another box pop up in the next day or two, there'll be strong suspicion that a Crunchyroll sublicense of To Love-Ru Darkness followed on the heels of Sentai's license. That is only going to be reinforced by the "stay tuned" in today's announcement (emphasis added, h/t theskyflame):

Even though we don't have any more scheduled announcements, we DO still have more titles coming down the pipeline (emails are flying around like crazy right now during launch season!)

Since there is one empty box up, which ought to indicate a license already in place, that could be Crunchyroll pushing on regional distribution or length of delay after broadcast premier, or both ...
... or it could be a finalized sublicense that has the announcement embargoed until the main licensor gives the all clear.

I can't seem to find a proper link of it, but ANN updated that link and Mania's forums have the PR that say that To Love-Ru Darkness starts today on TAN. Quoted from Mania's forums.
