Who picked up JoJo's Bizarre Adventure? I don't see any announcement on either ANN or Mania.

I believe NJZanDatsu is assuming CR didn't pick it up because the premiere time in Japan has passed.

But Crunchyroll often simulcasts one of the following broadcasts, and lots of series start late if the license is not signed in time to make the regular simulcast time.

No Little Busters! too unless it's a latecast, huh? Not getting LB! on time is bad. Really, really bad.

Little Busters! is probably one of the most hyped shows of the season. And maybe Crunchyroll wants to have as many regions as it can get from WB Japan if it's a direct license or Crunchyroll is waiting until the sublicensor wants to announce that they have it.

TheAncientOne believes that Funimation may have acquired it, and that would be a good strategy for them since it would be the first time that they got a Key series first(remember, ADV got Kanon and Air before Funi did). And of course, Funimation will save all of their announcements for NYAF/NYCC. They announced 6 last year. They could easily have 6 this year( Jormungand: Perfect Order plus 5 more)

Viz usually would have said if they had it, but maybe they are saving their simulcast annoucements for NYAF/NYCC which begins late this coming week.

The simple facts are when you have the most popular and hyped series, there is a lot of competition for them, and Crunchyroll usually loses out on that competition because they can't directly compete with Funimation if Funimation wants a series(thus why Sentai sublicensing to Crunchyroll helps both).

Oh, also, the fact that there are a bunch of music references on Jojo affects whether it will get an license or not? 'Cuz Araki loves some western music.

The ending for the anime is this song, Roundabout.

To be honest, LB! will be EVERYWHERE over the internet, whether someone licenses it or not, but I was hoping to watch it simulcasted here. Oh well. And I guess I understand it now.

To answer your question, music rights are separate from anime licensing. Crunchyroll would have to permission from the music rightsholders to include their songs(if they are western songs) in a stream. One reason why most simulcasts don't have lyrics to the OP and ED is that CR couldn't wait to get permission to include the lyrics. I remember when Funimation licensed Speed Grapher and couldn't get Duran Duran's permission to include their song "Girls on Film" with the DVD release.

Well yeah, seeing that LB got a subforum in animesuki's forums before it even aired tells me that. It is possible that we may see a latecast for Little Busters! here. I mean, I've seen Monday annoucements of this sort before, and I remember that Medaka Box was announced a week late.

If I had to guess though on what the three boxes are(if they are all anime): Say "I Love You", Bakuman 3, Aikatsu (but we could also still see Little Busters as one of those or one of the NoitaminA shows).

Since akiatsu is a kids anime i highly doubt we will see that. And i highly doubt CR will get bakuman 3. Im still thinking CR does have LB but trying to get more rights then announce it when thats finished and catch up. Kinda like medaka box.

Aikatsu got an ANN Spotlight so obviously the chances of a simulcast(or license of some sort) has increased. I am still doubtful about Bakuman 3 myself, but if Media Blasters wants an assist on paying for the license, they could always ask Crunchyroll to stream it(and Media Blasters have provided Crunchyroll with catalog titles before so they could also offer the first two seasons).

Crunchyroll getting Little Busters! would be my preferred outcome too. We'll just have to wait and see if it is one of those 3 boxes or not.

Yes. That's what I meant, when I said crunchy didn't pick it up.

I hope that the fallout from TAN's premature simulcast of Darkness doesn't have any impact on Sentai. Even assuming Sentai had absolutely no fault in the matter, there is the fact that it was a series they licensed that was involved. If some production committee member was on the edge about permitting a simulcast, something that small could tip them to the other side.

As you rightly pointed out, Sentai being able to offer a home video license allows CR to more effectively compete with Funimation (which could offer the same terms, but sweeten it with, "...and if the streaming numbers are at least x, we'll license it for home video").

I agree with you on Bakuman 3.

Regarding Little Busters, I think the one thing we can both agree on is that the biggest surprise would be if is wasn't simulcast by anyone.

While Akitatsu may be a kids anime, the Sunrise kids anime last season was simulcasted by Crunchy... Phi Brain. So I wouldn't say its impossible that Crunchy would go after kids anime (especially since these kinds of shows have adult male audiences too)

Phi brain is a sub license though so that really doesn't count.

It is unusual for Crunchyroll to announce simulcasts on the weekend, unless there is an event such as a convention going on.

At this point, any simulcast announced this weekend would probably be a delayed start of something that has already premiered.

The upcoming premieres in Japan before Monday morning business hours in the U.S. are:

Magi
Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II
Teekyuu
Ixion Saga: Dimension Transfer

Of those, #1 & #4 have already been licensed for simulcast, #2 wasn't going to be, which leaves Teekyuu, which is only 3 minutes per episode. While those short form series are often enjoyable, their nature means it really doesn't have an impact if they start late. (As an aside, CR hasn't announced a license for any of the short form anime from this season).

Basically, the next significant title is Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, which from what I have seen of it seems like a title Funimation might be interested in licensing.

I still can't believe no one has announced Little Busters, Code Breaker or Sukitte yet. CrunchyRoll, please!

Edit: JoJo's bizarre adventure would probably fit audiences better with an english dub so perhaps someone other than Crunchy has it but is waiting on the casting before announcing? Who knows...
