This is now confirmed. The rip has been now been uploaded, but luckily for Funi the series has now aired (technically it's still airing as I post this, but oh well).

I'm shocked, shocked, that a group with the programming skill that they display on their streaming site and with their (outsourced) Roku channel and (outsourced) Android app is having trouble locking down their website.

(Ummm ... I hope people can tell I'm being sarcastic?)

{sigh} ... I hope this doesn't interrupt the noitaminA block streaming ~ Psycho-Pass and Robotic;Notes ~ but I'm afraid that it will.

SHOCKED! :)
Well, after last time, you think they'd get better at security.

Anyway... it doesn't look like there will be a disruption. The first episode was posted just a few minutes ago.

am i the only one who is not that interested in this season's anime?

honestly, i was surprised gintama is back real soon with that awesome Kintama arc. lolol
I'm still waiting for Robotics;Notes though. It seemed that it would be the only anime that would rock my boat for this season.
2012 offered me a few gems, but I don't think 2012 had the best anime lineup. I like 2004-07's much better, honestly.

I think it depends on what type of shows you enjoy. Having watching a lot of the new lineup (still with 2 to go I might add), I've been pleasantly surprised, but then I really enjoy the manic slice of life shows. My Little Monster, From the New World and Pet Girl were great so far. Blast of Tempest looks like it could develop into something decent.

Difficult to compare one season with 4 years though

If they shut that barn door after the horse bolted ...

... this might be someone sneaking in the barn window and opening the barn door from the inside.

The people that are haterz on licenzorz will keep on trying. And since Funimation is one of the more active Cease and Desist issuers, they'l attract special attention.

I like my slice of life and a bit of shoujo, shounen, adventure and comedy. I usually base my anime from reading synopsis now because I rarely have time to watch anime nowadays since I often do a lot of things. I tend to be really picky with it.

More likely, I was discussing about this year than picking on the 2012 fall to 2004-'07.

Sigh. I had hoped the (probable) penultimate announcement would be something better than Teekyu.

If it's not on CR, it doesn't exist anymore

I think people are arguing that the season itself is pretty strong, but that Crunchyroll missed out on the best shows.

The rights holders might not even find out about the leak. There's a decent chance that this won't make it to any news sites, and it's not like the Japanese companies would be checking out torrent sites every few hours. If it was uploaded yesterday when the leak occurred it would be a different story, but Funimation are very lucky that the group who ripped it withheld uploading it until the series had started airing (which was 45 minutes before Funimation's simulcast).

This certainty does raise issues about Funimation's security though...

True, but as TheAncientOne explained, the odds of CR getting it were actually pretty low.

I figure there be the usual nonsensical complaints about Crunchyroll "picking" Teekyu over some other hyped popular title. But I am happy to see this added.

The new sports comedy series Teekyu, based on the manga by Roots and Piyo, will debut on Crunchyroll Sunday, October 14th, at 7:00 am Pacific Time with subsequent episodes set to broadcast every Sunday at the same time. Pacific Time for its premium members.

Teekyu will be available to Crunchyroll’s audience in the following territories: North America, South America, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

Surprised they couldn't get more of Europe with this short.

I agree that people a lot of people saying it are talking about the Crunchyroll season ... but it could be more focused on the pick-ups, and neglecting the continuing series. So for Shonen fighting anime fans, there's still Hunter x Hunter, Naruto and Bleach, and new episodes of Gintama mixed in with the Gintama return. For fans of slice of life series, especially madcap romantic comedies, Crunchyroll is still reliably able to license series that might not be available otherwise.

Mecha fans, on the other hand, are probably extremely unthrilled about the new season, both overall and on Crunchyroll.

For Science Fiction fans in particular, this is another strong season overall, maybe as strong or stronger than Spring 2012, with Space Brothers continuing, and Psycho-Pass, Robotic;Notes and From the New World starting. That's split 2/2 between Crunchyroll and Funimation, but at least all four are licensed for streaming in North America. However, with Funimation getting two, only Space Brothers and From a New World are streaming to Latin America, Northern Europe and Australasia, and sadly none of the four are worldwide streaming outside of Japan.

It is odd that its not worldwide outside Japan or worldwide outside Asia.

Maybe people watch the shorts alongside watching something else, so the royalties are strongest in the countries that otherwise have the widest selection. That would affect the MG that Crunchyroll could offer for a short, and the production committee might be conservative about granting region rights if they don't see an appreciable increase in the MG.

After comparing Funi's stream of Psycho Pass to the raw, all I can say is wow. Their lighting issues are worse than ever - they made it so dark that I would go as far as classifying it as unwatchable (by my standards).

Aside from that their video quality was surprisingly good, but there's no way I'll be watching a stream that dark again.

I'm just surprised they built it up into any kind of announcement.

This was said after the Medaka Box 2 announcement

Even though we don't have any more scheduled announcements, we DO still have more titles coming down the pipeline(emails are flying around like crazy right now during launch season!), so keep checking Crunchyroll! Who knows, we may just announce a title that you've been eagerly awaiting!

Now in hindsight, I'm guilty of reading too much into the last sentence. I knew that they were highly unlikely to get anything that would get a physical release, and I'm enjoying Pet Girl, I was just expecting a little more.
