Updates to initial post:

Added information on announced Crunchyroll simulcasts of Aoi Sekai no Chushin de and Ebiten

I also noted that Anime on Demand's Free Zone page now lists To Love-ru Darkness (which had been missing even after they posted the first episode), and now shows thumbnails for all 6 of their simulcasts. (Until recently, that had only been true for K).

EDIT: At least ANN confirms the Ebiten TV broadcast for this season, and also notes something important for the "already seen it" crowd:

While the title was originally distributed via live streaming on the niconico (formerly Nico Nico Douga) video service, the television broadcast for the series will feature longer episodes.

I think the 'longer episodes' is only referring to the TV broadcast having a OP and ED while the web version only had a live action ED. It would be pretty hard to put more into a TV slot considering the combined duration of the web version + opening is around 24 minutes...

So if Funimation picks up an anime then crunchyroll isn't allowed to stream it?

If that is indeed the case, the statement in ANN's article is somewhat misleading while remaining factually correct.

At least even those that watched the earlier fansubs have better video quality to look forward to.

The general rule of thumb is that if Funimation licenses a series first, they obtain exclusive simulcast rights. The only exception was their formal agreement with NicoNico.com.

While you will see a few series at both CR and Funimation, those are ones that were either licensed first to Crunchyroll, or effectively simultaneous licenses. In more recent history (i.e., 2010 and later) the only simulcast I can recall both CR and Funimation having was Sora no Otoshimono: Forte, and CR announced the acquisition of it first. The same should have been true for Strike Witches 2, but while Funimation announced shortly after CR that they had licensed the series including simulcast rights, they didn't stream the series until well after it has ended.

It's on CR and is called "Blast of Tempest" in English. It's about magic, the end of the world, and stuff.

It is a bit strange how every licensIng company has avoided even mentioning Little Busters. I wonder if it is a case of the production group just not wanting to license the property to any western sources or with conditions/costs no one will accept.

That is very much possible. Key might be the ones stopping a simulcast of the series. Since there was no NYCC announcement of a license of it, it's possible that no one has it yet. Or someone like Sentai is keeping very quiet about it.

I am interested in seeing whether that one TBD box is Little Busters! (CR trying to get as many regions as they can?) or something more like a delayed start to Say I Love You or even a surprise simulcast of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.. Of course that box could just be another short. I guess we just won't know until somebody says something.

Usually looking at the simulcast list at niconico.jp gives a good idea of what we can expect to see licensed for simulcasts by CR, Funimation, Viz, TAN, etc., as normally only one or two of the series they list each season don't get a simulcast license here.

As of now, however, the total for this season stands at five:
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Little Busters, Seitokai no Ichizon 2, Suki-tte Ii na yo., and Wooser no Sono Higurashi

It is being streamed by niconico.jp, and is one of five shows* they are streaming that no company in the United States have announced as licensed.

During the past several seasons, I can recall there being one and less frequently two of the shows they had that didn't at least get licensed for simulcast by a U.S. company, but if there were ever more than that, it was over a year ago, and I can't ever recall when the total that were MIA on this side of the Pacific was as many as this.

NicoNico.jp shows they licensed the show via King Records, and those shows have typically come to CR via Sentai.

* The other four are Little Busters and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Seitokai no Ichizon 2, and Wooser no Sono Higurashi

I think the last time there were so many MIA was spring 2011 with A-Channel, Softenni, (late-cast) Dog Days, 30-sai no Hoken Taiiku, Abnormal Physiology Seminar, and Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san.

This season, NicoNico.jp shows they licensed both Little Busters and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure from Warner Japan. Has Warner Japan ever been the publisher for international distribution? I don't know of any time when they've been the licensor for something, so maybe that's why we haven't seen those two titles simulcast yet (those series could still be late-cast).

As I recall, TAN's simulcasts of Ro-Kyu-Bu ~ Fast Break! and Heaven's Memo Pad fall into that category.

Good to know. The Heaven's Memo Pad license wasn't announced by Sentai until about 20 days after the series aired, so with that precedent there would still be time to see the two this season. Though, NicoNico.jp lists DOCOMO for both those past series rather than Warner, so I'm not sure it's exactly the same situation. The websites for both NicoNico.jp and CR list the publisher for their streamed video's; is there somewhere where TAN/Sentai list which company they've licensed a show from (I've looked, but wasn't able to find anything)?

A good judge for these type of things is the youtube channel the PVs are posted on (only official ones, of course). This works very well for Kadokawa, Mediafactory and Warner, just be careful with music only licenses (like the TLR Darkness OP/ED PVs on Warner's channel).

Adding to the previous 2, they also had the streaming license for Accel World.
