You know those wack jobs that are dedicated to correcting grammar because that ran out creative insults, or plainly just to be ass holes. Well this is for you.

if you write anything criticizing editing or proofreading, there will be a fault of some kind in what you have written". The name is a deliberate misspelling of Murphy's law.

(a) if you write anything criticizing editing or proofreading, there will be a fault of some kind in what you have written;
(b) if an author thanks you in a book for your editing or proofreading, there will be mistakes in the book;
(c) the stronger the sentiment expressed in (a) and (b), the greater the fault;
(d) any book devoted to editing or style will be internally inconsistent.

if you're having a discussion with someone and their only defense is correcting your grammar, they've run out of things to say and are looking for a way to one up you that doesn't involve any actual intelligence, but rather just the ability to read and be a condescending prick

I just correct grammar because I firmly believe that if you are going to use the word you should know how to spell it properly.

Hmm, I am not much entertained. When I correct grammar or spelling, I remain as accurate as ever in my typing. However I don't often see opportunities to correct people, most poor typing isn't worth being corrected by me. If the post I observe has an intellectual point to it, then I will respond to that intellect, not side details.

When you see someone correct a post and have no other content to what they have written, they are making an active effort to be rude. Do not mistake them for being linguistically adept. Good typing is important for accurately conveying what you are trying to say, but I generally find that when the threshold is crossed to where correction is needed, it's also probably so far gone that I would need to outright ask what is being said (I'd more likely ignore it altogether).

I can agree at least the misspelling as Muphry is creative for the point it seeks to express.

I don't understand why people must call them 'grammar Nazis.' They're not inherently doing anything wrong by correcting someone's grammar. You don't see people correcting mathematical formulas being called 'math Nazis.' It is the manner in which they do it and the amount of 'slack' they are willing to allow. I'm a creative writing major myself, but I rarely find myself correcting people online unless they tell me to or their grammar is just so terrible that I can't help it. Honestly, nobody has PERFECT grammar, but I think some people really need to put more effort into reading and writing.

jsttu dnot tpye laik dis n exxpekte ppls 2 bee ok wit et.

Hating having your grammar corrected doesn't mean you ought to complain that someone is correcting your grammar. If it's wrong, it's wrong. As long as you don't mix the people who don't mean such corrections to be insults with those who do, I suppose that is okay.

Learn what a grammar Nazi is first. Its basically a form of trolling or lousy debate skills. People only become G'Nazis after they are losing a argument and can only intentionally target a person's typing skills or spelling ability in a attempt to upset them or change the topic at hand. Most of the time this occurs in online games where at times you aren't given a forum-relevant amount of time to submit a reply.

Yeah, but where do you draw the line? Some people get extremely angry if anyone corrects their grammar. Others actually do have such bad grammar that correcting it is required for their stuff to be comprehensible.

You draw the line when someone takes the time to correct 1 misused letter in a paragraph or sentence that has no other faults in it. A G'Nazi will intentionally do this to upset the person.

I understand everyone prefers great spelling, and grammar.. But when it comes to the internet, the way most people view it as is simply; We're not being graded, so why bother?
