I've discovered what you could refer to as tin foil sculpting ... x.x Oh lord.... That was...An experience...I wouldn't try to often... It doesn't want to hold,it tears off..I managed to make it look like something though...However the lighting is not so good( but it gives a kind of effect... And color appears on the foil sometimes o.o )

Also,I was kind of inspired you know,so I made it wings, sometimes you would not see it that way..And even if the weird thing on it's head looks like evil horns,it's just a weird helmet :|

So here's my entry, with my entirely tin foil mannequin and armor( you know getting tin foil to hold on tin foil is just... so freaking hard !!!) :D

Ok I know there are quite a few.... But since we don't entirely see it properly on any picture, I thought it would have been better to get many view angles in order to analyze it ..More easily I guess XD

I'm sorry, I used up most of the heavy duty aluminum foil I bought for the contest to prepare a July 4th Independence Day feast.

My favorite desk buddy volunteered to cosplay in foil for me. I used my skills in origami to craft the left over heavy duty foil. Real aluminum foil has to be the most difficult medium to fold and sculpt using micro folding and modular interlocking origami techniques. I had to use a magnifying lamp, tweezers and small palette knife to fold this outfit. I swear, this herculean task was the most painstaking origami project I have done. My baby chocobo is going to live in that armor forever or until someone accidentally bumps him and the armor falls off!

That might be because I used one as a kind of mold for the head and arms.. ( I should have done it on the barbie itself, would have been easier XD .. )..

Shhhh. Don't let my baby chocobo hear that he looks cute. He already has an ego that surpasses that of Crunchyroll's Support Bacon, Bjaker and Prince Eden Orion put together.

As for the sleekness, I fold multiple layers of heavy duty foil together to help prevent tearing when folding and shaping the many little squares of cut foil. I have to reshape my fingernails with an emery board because each fold has to be painstakingly smoothed out with rounded out finger nails step by step. I can't allow much crinkling because it's difficult to crease and fold over on crinkles with the degree of precision that origami requires. I've been doing origami since kindergarten.

Your Barbie saint is wicked cool though. The lighting is just right to give it an ominous ready-to-battle darkness effect you see in many Saint Seiya Omega pre-battle seens with the forces of Mars. Besides, your Barbie gave me inspiration!

I'm planning on heading to a thrift store and buying-up all the secondhand articulated Barbies to repaint and re-costume into Bishoujo Anime/Manga figures to star in their own manga mash-up story. My main hobby is sculpting traditional Japanese dolls (Ningyo Art) and Hina Matsuri (Japan Girls's Day Doll Festival) from volcanic ash paper clay and fabric. So Bishoujo Barbie project is going to be fun.

By the way, everyone's creations are splendid. Despite the difficulty of aluminum foil as a sculpting medium, the fun level of cosplaying in foil is quite evident in the submissions.

I guess it just looks like a barbie finallly XD( Guess I've played to much with them when I was younger.. My stories always ended up weird though... If they were not to get married, some dramatic event would happen...One drowning in the pool, one eaten by my giant plastic fish in the sand box..ect ..Or they'd end up bald after I tried to change their haircut ..)

I use the outer finger nail trick too, but it only gets the folds to resorb to the place i push them once the foil has been folded..

My grandma used to repaint and re-costume strawberry shortcake dolls ...Some were really awesome...And i'd really love to see some of your japanese dolls :O

And as you said, there are lots or splendid creations out there !

Haha i used to build my barbies houses with leggo, give them clothes by wrapping material around them and make food and that for them to sell with blue tack. and 1 barbie i cut off all her hair to make her male so other barbies had a boyfriend Oh and one of my barbies was disabled.. because her leg never stayed on! i used to make them sing and dance alsorts! and i had a male doll! and it was that general dude in the hunch back of notridarm! The one who got married at the end or sumit he was my fave dolls husband
Its a shame i threw my dolls away.. they bring back memorys :P

I gave mine to my sister, but now I'm kind of scared to touch them... They're ..I don't know.. Like stiocky or something XD And their hair... Poor hair... All fluffy frizzy..Some have gone trough the washing machine and the dryer ... But most of them aren't the ones I had back then, because she's broken most of my old ones ... And she got my barbie houses My big pink one..It was huge and there was a terrasse behind! On both floors.. But I played most often with the barbie pools in my sandbox and I built sand castles for them to live in... Or the barbies that had to stay inside had their plane, their boat and their car ..And( once again yeah) I used to dress them up with material..I remenber that time I used leaves and got mad cause it didn't hold...Or got yelled at for cutting I don't know what( probably some clothes .. -o-).. I had Ken,kyle and another random guy as male doll... The random one had weird, half plastic(molded) half silicone false hair XD

My daughter loves dress up, however it lasted less than 30 seconds, apparently tin foil isn't her favorite dress up outfit!
