Tree Tales Special was created by Tezuka Osamu and the same man who created Astro Boy(of course). Anime movie wise, Momotaro is the oldest anime known. Unless there is one much older then I'm curious to know which anime that is.

Katsudo Shashin

A 3 second movie, whose release date is currently unknown.

Seirei no Moribito was pretty good, yes. It's a little dry/slow to digest, but it's definitely quality seinen.

I know I have said it before but Big Windup. It was not that popular so we (US) never got to see the end. But it was so good and I wish I could see the rest of it. There are so many tho..like Gilgamesh, Devil May Cry, Piano: The Melody of a Young Girl's Heart and more recently Kill Me Baby.

Oh, I'd also add Alien Nine to this. That whole series is underrated, anime and manga both. It's a very dark deconstruction of what really happens when you give a scared adolescent a pokemon and task them to "catch them all."

Figure 17 is a wonderful, heartwarming story about a young girl who gets mixed up in an alien invasion, and finds the strength to go on through the support of her alien symbiote/twin. It's really slow-paced slice of life set in a rural northern town, but has some very effective action scenes.

Those Who Hunt Elves is a hilarious comedy about three people who have to strip elves in order to get back home from the magical land they are stuck in.

I also like Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventures which is probably the best parody of Evangelion out there. If you like the whole "Shinji Ikari raising project," this one combines Tenchi Muyo with Eva-style tropes to make a cool little comedy.

I'll also say A-channel doesn't get much love. If you liked Non Non Biyori you might like it.

I need to say that Sword Art Online is one of the most underrated anime ever right now. I don't need to explain, just look around on the interwebs.

A Bridge to the Starry Skies. This one is one of my favorites because, despite the fanservice, the humor is excellent and not completely directed at the fanservice. The little factoid about swans had me laughing for a very long time. The humor related to the fanservice that was good was REALLY good. Daigo's quote about the elevation of poles was a home run.

I don't know how popular it was when it first aired (I've been told it was cancelled before it finished so I'm assuming it wasn't very popular), but my top pick for most underrated, or at least overlooked, anime would be Renkin 3-kyu Magical? Pokan (Magipoka).

This show is super cute and the main characters all have unique personalities that complement each other well. The way the girls converse and interact with one another is very entertaining. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys light-hearted comedy.

For me, it'd be Birdy the Mighty: Decode. It was one very exciting sci-fi/action Anime series that I had seen in a while. The styling was awesome, the soundtrack was phenomenal, and the special CG effects more than enhances all the action scenes. Another thing I liked were the real-world reactions that the characters made. In a typical Anime, the boy trapped in a hot girl's body would make every opportunity to "get to know" the body better, but the kid's reaction was more of genuine discomfort and urgency of wanting his body back.

It's just too bad that by the end of the 2nd season, the studio ran out of budget to completely finish the last episode. They ended up committing to finish the episode anyway with all the unfinished scene sketches. You could really tell by the last fighting scene, as well as the after credits showing the viewers the aftermath of each character (all in animated pencil sketches).

NO ONE watches KINGDOM

W T F, season two is about to end by the way. You guys NEED TO CHECK THIS out it's NUT. Which HAN CHINESE DUDE here don't like seven states stuff, ESPECIALLY A CARTOON.

Not the fantasy anime about Aladdin and his friends. This one is a fictional anime based on history during the seven warring states period. You know when the period when Kongzi was still alive(but not we don't talk about the time Kongzi was actually alive but the same time in history) sort like a dynasty but they didn't had that yet.

Monster. Hardly anyone ever talks about it let alone acknowledges its existence, especially on Crunchyroll. It's brilliant, though, and it puts every other mystery and thriller out there to shame. I love everything about it, and I've never heard of anyone who has watched it disliking it. I think the length (74 eps) and the animation might be what a lot of people off. It looks dark, often gloomy and quite realistic, but it fits the story, which is equal parts dark and realistic. The characters, too, and the OST is perfect. If you liked Death Note or any other mysteries, watch it.

Blast of Tempest is pretty underrated. So mind-blowing. I've recently finished it and I would say that the plot is death note level. Plus, the character development is crazy good.
Gintama and xxxholic are underrated too (Though I can understand why some people may not be into them)
Silver Spoon, Hikaru No Go, Eyeshield 21
Rurouni Kenshin is underrated sort of?- seeing that alot of people don't bother with the old animes
