Most Underrated Anime in Existence?

I'd have to go with Birdy the Mighty: Decode and RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne

Natsu no Arashi. I found this on Crunchyroll, but I've never heard anyone say it as their favourite or anything.
This is a really good show, this is coming from someone who does not like World War 2 themed stuff. This was sad and beautiful... and really funny. A must watch. |

I think that Chihayafuru is one of the most delightful anime's on the site and is over-looked by the vast majority of potential viewers due to how niche it is. I personally had no interest in it and over-looked it for weeks until I was bored one day and tried it on a whim. And man it's ridiculously good.
It's like the Hoosiers or Friday Night Lights for Karuta |

Blast reality. Burst it into shreds. Banishment...this world!

I agree with Haibane Renmei, but here are some other less-mentioned series:
There's Magical Mew Mew Taruto, which got a DVD release, but that's it and seems buried. I call it is "the other magical catgirl anime". There is also Night Wizard and Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu, which were never even licensed in North America and might be worth a shot in a few people's book (Night Wizard if only because it's one of the few anime based off of a tabletop RPG). Edit: Somehow I forgot Mahoraba: Heartful Days in the "unlicensed" group. I thought that was a really good series as well. |

Deadman Wonderland I think would be if there was a season 2 anime production. Haven't had luck finding the manga. Two others from years past (I don't know how their reception was): Chrome Shelled Regios and Freezing (wish there was a second season and that manga was licensed for the US). |

Hachikobubble wrote: Bakemonogatari. I don't know actually. xD That was the first thing that came to mind. The animation is amazing. And I love the story line. Some people say its boring though... I think its fascinating and vibrant. Exactly. |

This is anime; there are always going to be fans of something no matter how unknown a show might be. While of course, popularity does not always mean good in terms of merit or artistry.

Cromartie High School is pretty underrated. It doesn't have much of a plot but it's clever and funny. I think the jokes transcend time, they're always funny, whether it's 2003 or 2013.
