I'm quite unsure to be honest because well first of all I don't speak Japanese of course like most of the
people on this site from what I'm assuming. So I look forward too seeing what most of you guys would say
provides the better translation out of the 3.

I might be just bias but I prefer the crunchyroll subs over any out there and even allot of the fansubbers do to since allot of them just rip off crunchyrolls subs after crunchyroll releases them.
There definitely are few fan sub groups that do a decent job with their translation but it's been a long time since I've seen them.
Never really liked the funimation site that much to actually give their subs a try but like crunchyrolls, some rip off funimations subs as well.

So I choose to watch my anime on crunchyroll 80% of the time.

Can I ask we single out FUNi and not add in Sentai Filmworks/Section 23/Anime Network and Viz or is it that they are representing the corporate end of things?

As for fansubbers I've noticed over the past few years they only care about being first and not accurate and they go as far as to copy Crunchyroll's sub. I know this becuse when CR makes a mistake the fansub makes the exact same mistake the exact number of times

So do you just want me to take out Funimation?

Crunchyroll's subtitles are consistently good (with a couple of exceptions from a long time ago), and the mistakes that have been made normally get fixed quickly. They're also very fast at getting episodes up, so it's expected that there might be some mistakes every so often.

Fansubs can be anywhere from awful to great, with most just being decent. I don't think there are many good fansubbing groups around any more. Many 'fansubbers' just steal scripts from Crunchyroll and other similar legal streaming services. Fansubs are pretty much obsolete for any shows which get a legal simulcast.

Funimation subtitles I can't really comment on much because they rarely make anything available in the UK, but from what I've seen they're decent. Funimation probably makes less mistakes than Crunchyroll, but that's because most Funimation 'simulcasts' are actually delaycasts so they have more time for quality checking.

Overall Crunchyroll is the best I would say, although they do make mistakes. You'll only notice mistakes if you watch shows right as they come out though. If you watch them a few hours/days later they will probably have been corrected by then.

No, I just was wondering is all.

It depends.

Crunchyroll has great subs sometimes, other times they're decent or bad.*
Funimation seems to have great verbatim from what I see of their releases.

Fansubs can be both but there are notable groups who maintain great subs.

*Crunchyroll is generally speedsubs for the most part and they're good for the time they take.

This has been true for almost a decade now, it's part of why I'm out of the fansub scene entirely. Groups like Anime-Junkies (I'd say RIP, but I'm glad they're gone.) gave fansubs a noticable (and truthfully, still present) black eye, and put speed so far ahead that their errors are laughable. But the leechers took them, because they were first. They set the standard for speed over quality in the fansub community. So fansubs are out.

This leaves us with CR vs the traditional companies. (I'm using FUNimation as representative of the R1 industry.) I'm assuming that both groups get the actual scripts. However, the tighter time crunch that CR has means that more mistakes are likely to get through. Though also, there are a couple of titles that the R1 industry takes a few too many liberties with in translation also. But as a whole, I think I have to give it to the traditional group for having that extra layer of polish. I'm not saying that CR's are bad by any stretch, though. (If I did think they were bad, I'd not be a paying member...)
