I don't believe in it as I see Marriage as a catholic thing, and they are against gay couples. I find gay marriage is a way of being unthoughtful and unwantingly denoting their religion. It's fine gays being together - but marriage isn't needed for them to be happy...

The institution of Marriage predates Catholicism and Christianity. It goes as far back as 3000BC in ancient China. The problem many people have with the idea of gay marriage is that for 5000 years, no matter the religion or culture anywhere in the world, it has been considered a legal union of a man and woman. Its an idea fundamentally embedded into our understanding of marriage. It wont be easily undone or accepted and it will take a lot of time before its universally accepted to be both for same sex and opposite sex couples.

Having said that, I support the right for gays to get married and have the same rights traditional couples do. As the times change and society changes, so must some of our understandings of millenia old traditions.

I'm of the opinion that marriage is a legal and financial issue, and since civil unions don't have the same legal and financial benefits in my state (which is comparatively relaxed when it comes to gay relationships) as marriage does I doubt it's got them in many other states.

For example in a domestic partnership in Nevada both parties have to be living together beforehand while married couples do not, and public agencies and public employers who provide health insurance for married partners of employees do not need to provide those same benefits to domestic partners.

As another example in Alabama gay couples don't have any of the rights that married couples do because even civil unions have been banned there.

Keep the damn word if it's that important to you, but don't deny me the same benefits that a hetrosexual couple get because my partner happens to be the same sex as me.

Indifferent, but I agree that the law shouldn't make it illegal to keep two individuals from marrying each other to protect the "sanctity of marriage."

I don't wish to go into older religions lol. I'll stick with this as it is the general beliefs of multiple religions.

The thing is, there is a difference for all religious believers into what they feel is right. And that I think, is a confusion for the religious believers. Christians themselves are a lot more lenient than Roman Catholics - that have strong beliefs including that marriage is for man and women unity. This has been recently stated by the head of the Catholic Church - but they do not wish to say anything too bad to prevent uproar. They still do not allow church marriages as of this, as they wish to respect their beliefs in god, and his wishes.

I don't really believe that Roman Catholics will ever come to accept this, but general Christians may believe that is the best way to hold peace, but I do believe it is almost forcing the Roman Catholics into submission, which is also a form of discrimination.

NOTE: For people who read this, I have spoke generally, as I said earlier different people have different beliefs even in the same religion.

By all means, marry whomever you want. I have absolutely no right to say who should marry who.

I don't think there should be "yes or no". Marriage are marriage, nothing more or less. Just long as they're same specie and love each other, that's it.
