If you love somebody, and you want to spend your life with somebody, and you wish to express it through marriage, then so be it.

Too many people hating on the notion, touting the "sanctity of marriage" tend to violate and pervert its meaning daily.

If you want to marry the person you love, marry them. End of story.

yes. If you're in love and that's what you want to do
who's to say you can't.

For the most part, it boils down to whether or not there is a belief in God, and if there is, then their understanding of God or of one's religion; Anyway, I'm opposed.

It bugs me as much as it does when the person in front of me at McDonald's doesn't choose the same order I like.

Can you in your own words explain the difference between "being true to my religion means opposing gay marriage" and "I personally find homosexuality icky, good thing authoritative figures in my religion share this opinion"?

I feel that anyone who believes that God an entity that has opinions on anything is just silly.
How could someone or something that has the ability to CREATE REALITY AS WE KNOW IT hate its creations over something like sexuality?
It just goes to show the narrow and egotistical thoughts of those who believe in a scornful God.

I'd say that there's a possibility of a difference in fervency between the 2, and the latter may be the kind of person whom practicing people's of their respective faiths would call Cafeteria-style Christians/Catholics/Muslims/Whatever, since that kind of mindset is kinda dangerous since it can lead a person to choose which parts of their faith they want to believe in, or which ones are most convenient for them; For example, if one's religion tells them not to accept abortion, yet they personally see nothing wrong with it, then this person may be more likely to ignore what their faith teaches them (and let their emotions/personal feelings get in the way), as opposed to one that does their best to stay "true to one's religion."

It's a difference in understanding of God. I would say that for most believers, they don't believe that God is "hating" on its creation at all, but perhaps is helping us to understand what's best for us in this life.

i'm okay with it. I mean it doesnt concern me at all, why should i care about what they want to do with their life? you love who you love, and if you love someone the same sex as you, then go on right ahead.

I would love to see where our generation will be in the next 20 years or beyond. I dont hate them, I dont hate anyone but I just wish some people would see gay marriage a differently.

Then atheist people shouldn't get married according to your answer.

I support 100% gay marriage. They're not hurting anyone so who am I to judge or to disagree? if that's wrong in God's eyes why does He created them that way? I know I'm straight and I could never become gay so it is unfair to ask gay people to be someone they are not just because God hates them which is not true because nobody really knows the truth.
