I'm very happy with the announcement! CR only needs to add Uta Koi and it will be perfect, hehe.

They have 30 shows, which is over half the shows available this season -- and there are still more announcements.

Actually, for those majority outside Japan, it's 12, (8 ongoing and 4 new). That's due to TVTokyo titles having many shows last season. That's NOT exactly good.

If you actually go by the audience of Crunchyroll, then the majority users can access 14+ continuing titles and 9-12+ new titles (region restrictions for 3 of them have not been announced yet). Also there is at least 1 more announcement to be made. That's based on what users in the US, Canada, UK and Australia can access, which makes up 54%+ of current Crunchyroll users (based on Alexa info). Most shows also seem to be available in all of South and Central America, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands.

So basically most Crunchyroll users in Europe, North America, Central America and South America can access most shows. It's really only Asia and a small number of European countries that don't get so many. Plus the Middle East, but there are hardly any users from there.

Do you base it on the number of premium subscribers or on the traffic information on Alexa?

Traffic information on Alexa (Percentage of Visitors by Country). It's not always 100% accurate but it's the only way to really tell who uses Crunchyroll. The number of premium subscribers is not public information as far as I know.

The only information I have seen on the number of premium subscribers is this:

The broadcaster TV Tokyo reported during a November 24 press conference in Tokyo that the media service Crunchyroll now has just under 70,000 paid subscribers, generating profit for TV Tokyo on this venture. Crunchyroll had in the range of 30,000 paid subscribers in the summer of 2010.

Source:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-11-30/tv-tokyo/crunchyroll-has-nearly-70000-paid-subscribers

Even assuming CR again slightly more than doubled the number of subscribers since then, that puts them at only about 10% the number that Hulu Plus has, which itself is an even smaller percentage of the number of Netflix streaming subscribers.

That was a preview episode that streamed on niconico.jp on June 28. The first broadcast does not occur until this Friday, July 6, at 11:30 PM JST on AT-X, followed by the first OTA broadcast by Tokyo MX at 1:00 AM JST on Saturday, July 7.

You can view the airing schedule here:

Last I knew, almost all of Crunchyroll's streams are not available in Japan, so I'm not sure what you mean by "those majority outside Japan".

I have 26 new titles on my list for the Summer season. Of those, 3 are being "simul"cast by Funimation (if they have figured out the meaning of the word!), 1 is almost certain to be simulcast by Viz Anime (though last I saw Lagrange was still not announced by Viz), and 13 are currently available from Crunchyroll, with at least one more announcement, and one continuing show from Spring that was just added as a new simulcast. That would be half of the new shows available here. Some of them have region restrictions, but that is always the case. There aren't as many shows as the Spring season, but that is a general truth, not just a statement about CR's offerings. (This Spring, there were 42 new shows, by my count, with CR having 21 of them. Pretty consistent percentage...)

(Fixed my post)

Actually, every user outside Japan can watch at least 12 shows (those outside the "English-speaking countries"/not covered by Sentai's sublicense) those inside Sentai's sublicense (English-speaking countries) can watch almost every show simulcasted on CR save for 1 or 2 shows. You see, it's like CR has only 3 sources; TVTokyo, Takeshobo and Sentai. That's why you can classify every regional restrictions CR has into 3.
