Me too but my ps3 crashes here atm and my tv doesn't.. looking forward to the ap from crunchyroll as I seem to need a backup on a daily basis and I'd rather use the PS3 then the puter . my computer is noisy compared to the ps3 but then the tv make them both look like screaming jets. |

If you could stomach being a year behind, Netflix has an agreement to get each season of The Walking Dead either when the season ends or the next season starts (I can't recall which), and TNT has the previous season of Falling Skies on their website, and I suspect will continue with that approach. It also appears Netflix gets Ice Road Truckers, but I don't know on how much delay. The current have 5 seasons (4 of the original, and one of Deadliest Roads). I "cut the cable" over 18 months ago, and I can't say I've missed it. Like you, it got to the point where I was watching so much streaming online that I was spending less and less time watching programs using my Dish Network subscription. In my case, however, other factors also helped hasten my decision. Back on topic, hopefully we will only have until Tuesday to find out for certain if the PS3 app provides HD content or not, but it would be more comforting if someone from the CR staff would pop in on Monday and confirm it. I don't have a PS3 myself, but I feel we all have an investment in it being a success, since it could bring in a lot of new subscribers if done right, and that would mean more money for more content. Although that day is probably a long way off, it is conceivable that at some point, CR could start regularly buying into anime at the outset of production. (I added "regularly", as apparently they had some part in the production of Ozma). |

I will be extremely disappointed if it's only 480p and not in HD.
My only hope is that it's 480p for non premium members or they just mean a majority of their older titles and the stuff that was made before HD is in 480p. Everything that's in HD right now on their site should be HD on the PS3 (and Roku for that matter). All the other companies that have apps on the PS3 put their content in HD so CR should be no different. |

According to this post on PSNStores.com, it is due Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Per this post here in the topic from shadowsfall1992 that was also the date stated on the recent Playstation Blogcast (which I assume is the one available from this page at the official Playstation.com website). As for "Summer's about to end", you are the third person to say something like this despite it being far from true. Summer isn't even half over yet. I know summer may feel to many people like it begins in early June and ends in August (i.e., when school lets out and begins again), but when companies announce something will happen in summer, they are going by the official calendar dates. The PS3 app has all been announced to (at least initially) be only for premium members, so there would be no 480p only for non-premium members. The 480p comes from what the reviewer of the app in this article at IGN stated, but they attributed that to the CR CEO. Even though I don't even own a PS3, I hope that was a misunderstanding, and it indeed is in HD. While I would like to see CR confirm if it is in HD, it would actually be in their interest to keep quiet if it isn't. As I understand it, the PS3 has very good upscaling capability, and without a built-in function to take a screen snapshot, it would difficult for anyone to post a credible side by side shot comparing 720p via the browser to the video on the PS3. |

If 480p is the best you can do, I'll stick to my computer. I was excited about watching HD anime on my big screen HD TV, not SD upscales.
If it hits 1080p in the future, I'm in. Until then, I hope you at least have enough support for that app to justify improvements on it. |

The PS3's deinterlacer and upscaling is very bad. I use it for Blu-ray and Netflix (SD in progressive helps, but a lot of Netflix content is HD anyway) but it's absolutely horrible for DVDs. I use a dedicated player with a good deinterlacer and scaler for DVDs. |

I'll download it to support future development of the app. I hope members get 1080p streams sometime in the future.
