Pretty cool, but still not there yet.

The UI is fantastic, best part of the app so far.

But, I tried it over wireless and with direct connection, and was running 15 mb/s and I still had lots of lag/freezes/artifacts etc.

Also, as of right now, the picture quality is better if you just watch on the ps3 web browser at 480p.(I don't care how fast of a connection you have, the ps3 web browser just can't handle 720p or 1080p)
And, a lot less lagging/artifacts etc. through the ps3 web browser.

Overall I think it could be a fantastic app, but until they get the picture and smoothness up to par with Netflix, I'll stick with my pc in glorious 1080p(i know 720p upscaled), or watching it through the ps3 web browser on 480p.

I find this odd because I tried it under the same circumstances and it worked amazingly well, no lag, video loaded (tried Angel Beats ep 1) in like 3 seconds, and there were no artifacts or freezes at all. And it was better then the web browser, which in your case was better. Wonder why the results were entirely different though I don't think it's your speed because I have the roughly the same.

Maybe I' m just not on point today because I can't find a crunchyroll app. on my PS3. All I have been able to do is watch it through my web browser. Could somebody give a technological idiot some pointers here.

Well see it's on PS3, and if you're watching on an hdtv, it should be a) big enough to sit a decent distance away from, or b) small enough that 480 looks nice. I couldn't really tell it was 480p (from my own experience, articles mentioning SD aside) until I look at the screen when I was a foot away from it. In addition, bugs? Play an RPG when right they come out, or look on their respective wikis, they have notes on most pages for half of some games regarding game stopping bugs and the sort. Whenever something comes out it's always going to have bugs, though this isn't to say they'll always be there.

TL;DR --- Crunchy is on PS3, sit a couple meters away and it's always HD, it's free aside from your membership you'll be paying for anyways, and the GUI is pretty amazing.

Big difference between something like Skyrim and a Crunchyroll app when it comes to bugs.

I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to bugs but the app has way too many of them and they happen far to often to what I consider acceptable.

Considering the app is essentially free I'm not going to make a huge stink about it but I do hope CR plans on ironing out the bugs especially when they are trying to gain customers through PS3 owners that had no idea Crunchyroll existed.

Can you imagine someone trying out Crunchyroll for the first time through the app and the first video the try to watch crashes back to the XMB, doesn't play, or plays sound but is a blank screen? All of that has happened to me and I've hardly messed around with the app.

Go to the PSN store, than new releases, and you should see the CR logo there. Just download it and it will be under video services on the XMB.

I'm so sick of throwing my money at something, then getting my money returned to me. Just do something right for once and take my money.

Ah, I didn't think about new people, and yeah that'd leave a pretty bad impression, though I think the tone of my post was determined more with the fact I've run into very few bugs so far, so I guess that was kind of biased of me >_> anyways, let's hope they keep up to date with PS3 development (iOS version hasn't been updated since last June...) and make the first time users of Crunchy on PS3 happy.

Hmm, the response seems a little disappointing. Hopefully the app will be fixed, unlike the iOS one...

Did I miss a gigantic sign somewhere on the site telling everybody that this app is out?

Been having the same problems with the app. Pictures freezes but the talking still keeps going. Hope an update comes out to fix those bugs. Been super excited about this one.

They are probably wanting to hold off on publicizing it until they can get some of the kinks worked out that didn't appear in pre-release testing. (I don't know if they did a limited beta or only in house testing, but either rarely reveals all the bugs found when a app goes live to the general public).

as someone who has worked for a software company for years, testing and retesting new products and updates, there are always going to be unforeseen bugs, especially with new releases, those are the worst. You can test and test for months on end, and still have a tidal wave of new bugs come out once the customers get their hands on it. mostly this was because having someone who isn't knowledgeable technically will do things that us the developers would not do. they will get the bugs worked out, crunchyroll hasn't let me down yet.

Do noo i repeat DO NOT use this app i trierd watching an episode of Gintama and had multiple freezes during the episode, but that´s not the worst part the worst part is that this app froze my PS3,i had to hold the power button down so that my console powered down as it was unresponsive, and before that.crashed and then exited back to the XMB .
This for me shows that this app was not tested or had very little testing time.
