Just got my cell phone bill in my e-mail for the past month. $373 cell bill. Using my cell in Japan proved to be very expensive, and that's with me taking all sorts of international calling plans too.

The bill was expected, but it's kinda weird seeing a cell bill that expensive.

Whatever, was worth every cent.

you would have been better of getting a cheap phone over there.

I think about the only option for some one not on a work etc visa to get a cell phone in Japan is the rental option, and their are a few reasonably gaijin friendly (in English) services avaliable. Whether it would be cheaper or not, that depends on your needs.

I here one problem for that is data roaming. Disable it on your phone and use wifi hotspots instead.

I know the link is about iphone regardless for any other phone it's prudent to do the same.

Then settle to pay for some wireless broadband that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars.
