Paul was just amazing. I love how, when he first came out, all the judges had this 'D: oh god no' look on their faces, and then he completely blew them away.
<3~& that woman looked like she was about to have an orgasm. A performance that completely blew me away was Prince at the Super Bowl. Especially when he sang Purple Rain IN purple rain. |

i saw those videos the other day and was amazed by both of them.
the little girl's performance is remarkable because she's six... i was expecting "i'm a little teapot". paul was simply amazing since he's (as far as I know) untrained. i listen to a lot of opera, and while he certainly isn't on par with the greats he is phenomenal for an amateur. both of his performances were great, though i didn't care much for his song selection for the second performance. i know why he sung it - it has mass appeal and is very nice in it's own right, but personally i think there is much better stuff out there he could have sung. Here is the original version by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman for anyone curious. btw, Andrea Bocelli is blind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp0ccQVy1og the great thing about paul is he'll hopefully turn more people on to opera. it's always been a misunderstood genre of music, and is rather intimidating to get into (but well worth the effort). i'm at the point were i rarely listen to anything other than classical, much of which is opera. to me, most anything else (at least of a pop or rock music variety) is starting to sound cheap and trashy. |

I've just listened to Paul Potts just a few seconds ago and at first, I could honestly say, eventhough I've heard how many people have praised him, I had a doubt if he could actually sing in the first place. But, It was well worth it spending a few moments hearing such a great talent show itself at last. I think I've turned into a fan of his . . .
