Episode 1 Oo, quite the serious mecha series, I like ; mixing action, drama, tragedy, sci-fi, and mecha all in one fine little package. I'm also enjoying some of the characters in their...LOL, suits already, so hopefully we'll learn about them more soon. Yup, I seen potential in this series already this summer. Hope, it'll impress more soon as the episodes progresses as I see that this anime definitely can pull off something unique and special this time around. Also, dat catchy song @ the end. |

Episode 1
If you came looking for action in the pilot episode, you will be disappointed. The first episode did not really have any overwhelming moments but it was a decent first episode. It introduces the setting and one of the main cast members - the other(s) yet to be shown. Thus far, we only see Yui Takamura's daily live and her preparation against the BETAs. The introductory episode feels formulaic but I wasn't disappointed. It may get more interesting in the second part of this "arc" but so far it's a bit of mecha and tightsuit fanservice which I'm pleased with. I think Muv-Luv fans might be little disappointed with the show so far but I can't say for sure since I've only held minor interests in the series. I'd love to the actual game adapted. This adaption is probably just candy to the fans. My favorite scene was spoilerwhen the old man said he didn't want to leave Kyoto and chose to remain behind. Something about that made me enjoy the show more. Edit: I forgot something: THOSE TIGHTSUITS ARE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. |

So since it's based off a VN should we expect this to turn into a Harem? I'm not sure how I'd feel if it did. Was hoping for a more serious type mecha show.

Reminded me of Blue Gender (which I hated) mixed with Starship Troopers... the first ep kinda fell flat for me. Im not a big fan of mecha, I can count the number of mecha anime I liked on one hand.

^ yes to this!! (how could you almost forget that lol )I liked the first ep: set the story up, introduce some of the main cast characters, prep for battle, mechs, girls in skin tight body suits piloting those mechs...yep I'll keep watching for sure |

Spoilers for the games but not Total Eclipse: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide The original Muv Luv game had two parts, Extra and Unlimited. Extra was a very generic harem comedy. Once you finished the routes for the two main heroines, you could unlock Unlimited, in which the main character awakes in an alternate universe where Earth's been invaded by the BETA. He's drafted into the military and learns to use a mecha along with alternate versions of most of the girls from Extra. However, Unlimited is much darker and the romance elements (while still present) were greatly toned down. There is no way to get a good-end in Unlimited -- the best you can do is a slightly less bad end. Then came the sequel, Alternative, where the main character travels back in time to the start of Unlimited and tries to make things better. Things don't go as planned and the story gets even darker than Unlimited and the romance elements are pushed into the background. Total Eclipse is based upon a side story novel/manga set in the Alternative timeline. The characters from the game are pretty much absent from the story. |

Well I was at the premier showing of Epidose 1 and 2 at Anime Expo . .
The creator Yoshimune san introduced the anime and the singers of the Opening and End song performed. Most of the audience were guys mind you. I was the only onna on the front seat ha ha ha but the energy was strong and I am pretty game with it. althoughIt is not my kind of anime. The enemy BETA are monsters class these and that depending on their job and some are like zoombie aliens, so you know what they do right?. Very Strange man. My friend from Anime Diet told me the creator Yoshimune tends to have darker work. Kyoto getting ***** is somewhat disturbing to me because I love the city of Kyoto. I did notice they skimped on the animation in certain things. And yes the locker scene with the suit was crazy. However not much fanservice like HSofTD in episode 2 as well, and that episode is when Yui becomes what she will be in episode 3 , the turning point. [ /blue]. |

I liked the first episode and I'm cautiously optimistic for the series. Personally I haven't cared for most of the shows Satelight has made, but hopefully this will be an exception.
