Posted 7/2/12 , edited 7/2/12

Plot Summary: The third season of Hakuouki continues this TV anime based on a series of bishounen games released by Idea Factory for the PlayStation 2 and PSP. This new anime tells the story of the dawning of the shinsengumi.

Is there anyone else who's excited to see them make a third season?

I'm very excited, as I'm super-interested in Reimeiroku's [as in the game's] plot, and to learn more about the inner workings of the early Shinsengumi, but I doubt the game itself will come out in English unless Aksys pulls off a miracle. :c So this is the next best thing! I hope we learn a little bit about the beginnings of the Water of Life [or Ochimizu if you prefer] too. Alslo, Ibuki seems like a cool main character. Chizuru is kind of an outsider, so I'm looking forwards to seeing the Shinsengumi from a new recruit's POV!

[Here is more info;

Timeline

This happens during Bunkyū Year 3 (文久3年), aka 1863 A.D. :

2nd month Rōshigumi arrived Kyoto. Hakuouki Reimeiroku begins.
8th month Rōshigumi renamed "Shinsengumi".
9th month Shinsengumi unified. Hakuouki Reimeiroku ends.
12th month Chizuru arrived Kyoto. Hakuouki begins.

Shinsengumi was formed of 2 factions: Serizawa and his men from Mito, and Kondou and his men from Shieikan*.
Although there are more assistants on Kondou's side, Serizawa was the Lead Commander (筆頭局長) and was the highest authority in Shinsengumi.

Main Characters:

Ibuki Ryunosuke (Protagonist, original character in the game]Seiyuu: Tomokazu Seki
Although he's obstinate and badmouthing, he also has a gentle side. The game follows this character and the anime started with him.

He was about to starve to death, that when he was saved by Serizawa Kamo but Ryu was forced to become his servant. in payment for his life

The Seiyuu

Hiroyuki Yoshino as Heisuke Tōdō
Jouji Nakata as Kamo Serizawa
Koji Yusa as Sanosuke Harada
Kousuke Toriumi as Hajime Saitō
Shinichiro Miki as Toshizō Hijikata
Showtaro Morikubo as Sōji Okita
Tomohiro Tsuboi as Shinpachi Nagakura
Toru Ohkawa as Isami Kondō
Nobuo Tobita as Keisuke Sannan

Episode1

I was hoping for a more how everyone got together and not just Ibuki's character so I am a little disappointed, I know they did show some of those in the other series but it would be nice if they tie it up together

I'm currently working on watching the first season and then the second season of Hakuoki before i start watching the third season. I'm a weird stickler for keeping things in order, at least somewhat Plus I'd like to finally be able to say that's I've watched the first two seasons.

Episode 7

It is leading the story towards some of the deaths that will happen inside the Roshigumi faction. How interesting that the story is really telling the history of the actual Shinsengumi main characters, in a way.

HIjikata Toshizo was tall according to record about 5'6 , that he was indeed a son of a wealthy farmer but his father died when he was born and then his mother. His sibbling actually brought him up . He was the youngest. He did join that dojo but before that he self taught himself kenjutsu and developed his own style.

They are indeed making Serizawa evil for making him discriminate a samurai born from a samurai clan and a so called samurai born from a farmer.

I didn't know how tall he was...that's three inches taller than I am. But considering it was the 1800's that's pretty tall.

Anyway, as far as the plot is concerned, it's pretty intense between Kondou's group and Serizama's group and their different ideologies and tactics. It's cool to see how and why Yamazaki and Shimada were made spies and how Hijikata begins to descent or ascent (depending on how you take it) into his role as the demon or oni that's well known in the First and Second season of the show. I'm having fun pointing out differences and similarities between the seasons, but one huge questions remains about the main character in the current season:

Why won't he fight?

This hasn't been explained yet, though considering all of the struggles within the ranks, it seems to have been pushed to the side, along with Ryuunosuke frankly, he could be taken out of the show and you wouldn't notice all that much. I just wonder what his purpose it, why he doesn't want to fight or learn how to fight even though things are so violent and at the very least, one needs to be able to defend themselves from ronin, and other dangers.

Shaltiar, CR is not streaming those Hakuoki episodes anymore because Sentai licensed those for distribution already in the North America.

You have to go to the not so kosher sites like animecrazy.net or get the dvd.

Good luck

Is this story going backwards?

If this leads up to where Chizuru joins them then the other two seasons are the middle and end?

THis is the prequel to ALL Hakuouki , so you can really say , this is how it all started even though Ibuki was nowhere in the other series , if I am not mistaken.

Here we meet Chizuru's otosan who is doing the experiments.

So Yes , this is how the shinsengumi began in the world of Hakuouki with some facts and fictio
n.THis particular episode happened on the 8th month. Chizuru comes in on the 12th month.

And for those who knows the game and how it goes , we are going to see some bloodbath in the next episode , which ends the Roshigumi faction and Ibuki will be free and since we know he aint warrior material , he will go bye bye which explains why we dont see him in the other Hakuouki series. Not unless he gets killed.

I am just guessing about Ibuki
.

I dunno about you guys, but the pacing of this season was a huge disappointment. It was too rushed and they cut out too much from the game.
