No. In my personal experience the most diehard christians I've known were actually more condescending. Sure they would smile more but they really bitterly looked down on people around them. I'm not saying that I believe more religious people are more rude. I just don't believe that you can gauge a person based on their beliefs just like how you can't gauge that based on their style of music. I'll say that the nicest man and the nicest woman (didn't know each other) I've ever met were very religious Catholics (a type of Christian). I won't say that it is a trend though. Get to know someone to find out how nice they are - step back and view how they interact with people other than yourself. Thats the only real way to see someone's true colors.

Ahhh religion, an excuse to be nice and to be an asshole. It's hard to see genuine kindness from some individual of certain religions.

Think of a atheist who doesn't believe in eternal damnation who's kind to you and a christian who believe in hell who's also kind to you. If you had to choose which one is hypocrite, who would it be?

To be honest, I find the assertion that religion has anything to do with kindness a little bit insulting. For one thing, I think it undermines the kindness that a Christian may share by saying "They are only kind because God tell them to be so," when that simply does not have to be the case. Though I myself am Agnostic and can't pretend to know the whole of it, i believe that the people who truly and devoutly follow the word of God do so not because they just go with the flow or because they don't want to go to hell but because they find that the words of God resonate with them; and, one of God's most important teachings, correct me if I'm wrong, is to love your fellow man.

In simpler terms, I believe that people are not kinder because they are Christian, but that many kind people believe in God.

Of course, as some have said, Christianity can also breed hatred and ignorance. However, I don't think it's fair to blame that on God or God's religion. I blame the people who choose to misuse God's words as a channel for their own hatred and ignore Jesus's -and God's- very important teachings to be kind and love thy neighbor.

I didn't even have to think of how I should answer this. Just 'cause you got baptized and go to Church under Christianity doesn't mean that you're an angel :/ Your behaviour is what matters, not your religion.
For example, some high schoolers in my school are pretty rebellious and they're Christian. . .

When I worked night shift at a gas station I had a strange encounter once.

This old woman came into the store and wanted to buy lottery tickets. She went on to tell me that she usually picks them up on her way home from church, afterwards asking me about my beliefs. I told her that religion wasn't really my thing and that I was an atheist. After throwing her money at me and snatching her lottery tickets she screamed at me saying, "You're going to burn in a lake of fire for all eternity in Hell!"

I just smiled and said, "Have a nice evening."

I'm not really sure why people are so mean to people with different beliefs. I really don't mind what anybody believes in as long as they're nice to others and keep it to themselves. That old woman didn't have to be so hateful.

Yes, Christians are really sweet, kind and lovable people.

As a charlatan I get along with them great, I just pretend I agree with all their beliefs, and when they're done talking I say something emotional like: "I feel a sense of solidarity in knowing that Christians around the globe are praying together..." and they always respond with huge smiles, sometimes they even try to hug me and shake my hand. I've had a few ladies kiss me on both cheeks and the forehead.

Religious people are no different from the rest -- they love and want to be close to you if you tell them what they want to hear, and they hate and distance themselves from you if you don't. Typical human zombies. Exactly as shallow and helplessly subservient to their emotions as the rest of us.

I agree.

We all can be kind. Some Christians are the biggest hypocrites I know. I do believe in God but that is another type of discussion

Some are the most judgmental bastards on the planet. Look what happened in prohibition. But I know of a few that give the shirt off their backs and do things for people that warms my heart. I know a wealthy christian who had a friend who sold his mint condition 67 mustang because he needed the money and the man paid his bills for months till he got back on his feet. His whole family is wonderful. He has a answer for everything. He was a bastard I heard before he changed.
