I agree. Christians are generally nicer people because LOVE is #1 to them and God's word.

They are usually "nicer", but most of their altruism is not genuine as it comes from dogma. A truly kind person would be nice without the idea that they will reap "heavenly rewards" or it or churches telling them to be. Besides that bible of theirs is horrific, I don't think a sane person could take it in without cherry picking the 'good things'. It's organized therefore it has it's own goals whether it's to be nice or switch to being bigoted and hateful. Sorry this might be biased, but whatever this is my experience with the church and it's people.

Of course, as some have said, Christianity can also breed hatred and ignorance. However, I don't think it's fair to blame that on God or God's religion. I blame the people who choose to misuse God's words as a channel for their own hatred and ignore Jesus's -and God's- very important teachings to be kind and love thy neighbor.

This. I mean, remember that 'golden rule' thing that Jesus said?

So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

In theory, if Christian peeps actually treated people the way that they wanted to be treated, then they would be nice. Hopefully.

I'm Christian and I am generally helpful and nice...most of it due to my Christian up-bringing. One thing we all can do better to understand is that there are mean or bad people everywhere be it a christian or atheist, so don't be supprised if you meet a mean one

I am a child of a preacher and for some reason people expect me to be a bad apple for it's said all the time that the preacher's children is the worst of the church, but I found it to be false. There are bad apples everywhere, but I surely would not be the nice guy today if I wasn't first influenced by the teaching's of Christs love. I hope this helped

They are suppose to 'kind' to everyone, which is impossible. There will be lapses when they snap and they will pray for forgiveness.
Try saying their belief is wrong watch what happens, they usually won't accept other religions. They think only their religion is the correct one.

Well...The Christian religion is supposed to teach people the way of God and in turn should make them nice and kind but we are still dealing with human beings and all their flaws... I'm not saying anything bad about any Christian that happens to be reading this but I will say I've met a ton of Christians who are corrupt individuals. They pretend to be the greatest thing God ever made. They pretend their sins are nothing while judging you for yours. My 'favorite' Christians are the ones that say they follow the way of God and really don't. They just lie their way through life. I'll take a non religious person who follows God or a moral path in his/her own way over a fake church goer who sins with a smile.

Basically my answer is yes Christians do SEEM nicer...they seem nicer because they are probably putting on a show for you... Don't always trust what you see. They are still human. Be careful.

More bad things things have been done in the name of religion than good IMO. I have never found Christians to have a monopoly on niceness. Anyone can be a good person or an ass regardless of religion.

No, especially when Christians themselves say just by being a good person alone doesn't get you into Heaven; that just tells me that they feel superior to everyone else and it's ok to be rude a-holes.

when they say that they aren't trying to be rude. it's just that's part of Christian belief that going to heaven isn't based on anything other than accepting your own sins and asking Jesus to save you from them. it's more of a that's just how it is kinda thing and when they say being a good person doesn't get you into heaven it applies to themselves too.

so it could also be taken as an admission that they've accepted that no matter how good a person they are, they aren't good enough to get into heaven on their own but fortunately for them, and any anyone who's willing to accept it, no one has to be good enough to get to heaven on their own.

it's not saying that being a good person isn't something worth trying for just that Christians don't believe you get to heaven on your own merit. so as far as human standards are concerned being a good/bad/great/terrible person is pretty much irrelevant as far as who's going to heaven.

I agree it's a bit simplistic for anyone to think that the only requirements for being saved is to be a good, virtuous person. A lot of people mistake the goal of Christianity to be to bring up good people in the world, but isn't that a bit deceptive to those religion newbies?

I think the goal serves more to just lift up Christianity itself and to spread itself as an organization with goodness and virtue really being irrelevant. Sure Christian organizations do charitable things and promote good ways of living, but that's kind of typical for a religion that wants to only retain that image to outsiders and critics.

In order to become an "insider" you simply have to accept a gift that really doesn't do much to actually change a person's behavior, sometimes it even reinforces an excuse to be just the same or worse. Additionally when you are of the opinion that it is in fact a trick, that probably neither God nor Heaven exists, what really is the point? No good comes out of it and lots of people die being tricked and deceived all their lives. It seems downright evil to me.

Actually, it does no good to accept the check and not cash it, which a lot of people do. The goal of Christianity itself is the save one from going to hell by giving them a path to God through Jesus. Basically, if you believe in Jesus and follow is teachings to love your neighbor, do not commit certain acts, like those on the ten commandments, then you will go to heaven.

In no way does that give you an excuse to be worse. It doesn't work like that. Even if you accept Jesus, ff you reject his teachings, you are rejecting him, which means you're not really accepting him at all. You'll still go to hell. If you follow him, you won't. But that doesn't mean you won't trip along the way.

Also, goodness and virtue are not irrelevant since that's partly what the Christian faith is based on..And the religion isn't the one who wants to retain that image, that would be the churches. Those who are true in their faith will be selfless and do these acts out not out of obligation, but because they want to. It's not a demand, it's a request. No obligations.

And you are only deceived if you are led blindly. Christianity is a choice that some people choose to make. You have faith in your religion, that your religion is correct, that you will go to an everlasting paradise. So what if it doesn't happen when you die? At that point it won't have mattered. But should it be the truth, then it will have. Regardless of what religion you are, no one knows what happens after death. Also, there are people who find themselves happier living a life guided by religion. Can you take that pleasure away from them?

Also, you say Christianity is an organization when only certain denominations of the faith are considered organizations.

Eh.. I'm done for now.

As a Christian, I have to say that there are some pretty brutal Christians out there... But also, the nicest people I have ever met have been Christians. But on the other hand, while they may be nice to your face, I find the ratio of two-faced people to be higher in Christians.

Not to say that all Christians are pushy, angry, demented assholes but most that I have met, unfortunately, were

They were also complete hypocrites that just made me want to slam my head on a desk.
