Most would assume you are a couple, but i think it honestly doesn't matter. I hold my friends' hands and even tell them i love them on a weekly basis. Plus with our current generation either no one would care.

Even still, people can't view homosexuality as a normal thing.
Even if you're not, and just holding hands, most people will view it as a strange phenomenon

like any other situation people hax mixed idea's, for me though I think holding hands is fine, tbh I am a guy and I straight and I have held hands with another guy (although we were joking around holding hands and skipping around making our friends laugh) but this situation is like a guy wearing a pink or purple shirt, people think the guy is gay, but ya know I am not afraid to wear pink, purple or a yellow shirt in public at all (I am wearing a yellow shirt as I type this right now haha) and I am straight.

In the United States, where I am, excluding the situation of a parent and young child or helping an infirm person, two same-sex people holding hands is behavior strongly associated with homosexual couples. (At least in my experience-- maybe colored with having lived in Ann Arbor, MI and San Francisco, CA from 1988-2007.) No straight guys or girls I know would do this (except maybe in jest). I have heard that in some Asian cultures (and maybe elsewhere too), though, same-sex straight friends holding hands does not carry this connotation.

i lol at people who get so judgemental that they think your homosexual just because you hold hands its common for close friends to hold hands i held one my guy friends before does that make me gay? NO IT DOESN"T. He is a weak kinda and nervous guy and was worried about some bullies and I'm naturaly protective of all my friends guy or girl. (although most my friends are girls) For all those people who judge before getting to know someone just don't you only make yourself look stupid in the end.

Linked fingers = relationship, just holding hands = friendship.
That's how I think of it. I mean, I hold hands and link arms with my girl friends and family members all the time. I don't find it such a big deal. I also see other females doing the same thing all the time. If I see girls holding hand and their fingers are laced then that's when I'll think they're in a relationship.

No big deal either way though. Who cares.

Hehehe, I always hold hands with my friends. Linked fingers, sometimes, because my friends are weird. We also link arms and hug and my one friend even kisses my hand sometimes... Everyone thinks we're gay, but we're not. It doesn't really bother me at all, because from my experience, people are rarely hostile with that assumption, they just assume and let it pass. Live and let live~

I find nothing wrong with it, mostly because I do that with my one friend. First time she held my hand I thought people would get the wrong idea but she said, "let them think what they want". Haven't cared since.

Handholding is by far one of the world's most impure displays of affection. It must be banned and removed from society at once. Children alongside adults should be educated to repulse this calamity. If we act too late, children - the treasures of society - will become scum and corrupted. Handholding brings forth the worst in humanity and only produces lust. It's not affection at all - it's a menacing disease that destroys all sense of sentimentality and brings out the monstrosities within humans.
