I was just curious about something so I thought I'd ask..
Is eye contact difficult for you? Is it even anything you really notice or think about? Whether it's easy for you or torture, I'd really like to know why? I know that it can be a completely personal experience between two people. Well, at least that's what it looks like in these shows (anime or otherwise). Personally, I can't really do it. It terrifies me to no end. I guess I just don't want to actually see them when they look down on me or judge me. In the end it just sorta leaves me by myself (insert forever alone.jpg) but I'm fine with that. Can a person's confidence really be measured by the amount of eye contact they can maintain? Anyway, that's how I feel about the subject. Lemme know what you think about it. |

Dogs use eye contact as a way of establishing rank. The first one to break it is the underdog, while the other is the alpha. I like to do this to strangers, but it usually ends up with them just being freaked out, while I stare at them psychotically.

To be honest I'd probably have a panic attack if that happened to me. xD I think I saw a video of something like that on youtube, or somewhere, where a guy was testing reactions. He'd go to a place where there were alot of people having lunch, or whatnot, and sit next to them and just stare at them. It was hilarious to see. xD |

I can't do it, Unless it's a conversation where I'm fine, but someone looks across the room from me or i'm walking along and someone is lookin me in the eye, deathly afraid, Scopophobia, maybe, but I just don't want to make eye contact with total strangers
Your confidence definitely can't be measured by that, because i'm sure under the right circumstances if your talking about or defending something important to you, even the greatest coward will beat their fears whatever they are, even if it's just making a little eye contact! |

when I was little I heard that timid people don't make eye contact, so I made a point to always maintain it, lol
Now I still do it out of habit and also because I feel like it shows that other person respect, especially because I zone out a lot |

Why are the new animes so sloooooow?? XC

I have trouble doing such. Unless I'm wearing glasses or behind a mask or something.

I can't do eye contact, but staring contest, yes.
Also, surprise staring contests with strangers across the room. |

It depends on who I'm talking to. If it's just a friend, family member, or someone I feel comfortable with, I always maintain eye contact because I want them to know I'm interested in what they're saying (it also helps me from spacing out). But if it's, say, an authority figure (like a teacher or boss) or someone I feel uncomfortable around (or if it's an uncomfortable topic we're talking about) my eyes wander all over the place XD I tend to focus more on their mouths in that kind of situation.
As for random strangers, usually I'll maintain eye contact, mostly because I think eyes are pretty and I've never seen theirs before (Creeper reason, yeeeep) |
