You know the feeling of falling from great height? That's how i feel when I give eye contact.

I cannot stand eye contact to any extent and If someone stares at my face when talking then,
I want to get away ASAP

I find this concept really odd to see on this site.

Most animes, at least the ones I watch, have main characters with strong personalities that show confidence in themselves and how they do things that's very motivational. (Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach, Reborn, I could go on) It teaches and shows to be your own person and be confident regardless of what others think. Eye contact, when you have confidence in yourself, is really pretty easy to handle. I can say this, being that I wasn't always confident and found it hard. By making eye contact with someone, you can tell a lot about them, but it scared me because I knew that it was a two-way street and meant they could see me the same as I could see them. So I avoided eye contact as best I could. Since I got out of high school, that's changed drastically; much credit given to above shows and stepping out on my own in college. Now I make eye contact with people walking down the street, we both smile at each other and go our merry ways. Not a big deal. They can judge all they want. I don't care. I'm gonna do what I want and enjoy every minute of it. No one's getting in my way anymore.

Not if they have my attention while they speak, or I have their attention when I speak. When there are breaks in conversation it becomes a little difficult. Not a big deal.

I love eye contact from others, it kind of a subtle reminder to me that I am not actually invisible, allowing me to restrain myself from performing shameful acts for believing i am invisible.
...
But when I do it to others, they tend to run away really fast.

I love staring into people's eyes. You can learn a lot about desperation or utter joy.

Eye contact is very important and comes normal to me, if you look down or to the side it means that you think the other person is superior to you so you dont want to stare at them in the face because you dont consider yourself their equal. I dont think that anyone is superior to me so I look everyone in the face when I speak to them unless im doing something else when speaking to them or not really paying attention to them.

I've never thought about it like that. Hell no I don't think anyone's above me. I'm gonna start looking people in the eye more because I avoid eye contact too much. Maybe subconsciously I felt those people were superior to me. SCREW THAT. This post was actually pretty helpful. ^

Glad I was able to help out . Eye contact is one of the most important and obvious signs in body language thats why when you go to a job interview they tell you to always look at the interviewers in the face, dont look down or look around the room aimlessly, and dont cross your arms or legs (it makes you look tense or uncomfortable). The same principles apply to real life as well, its very easy to pick up on the way people are feeling by their body language once you learn to read the signs.

Eye contact isn't really an issue but I do hate catching random persons eye when walking somewhere or just looking around a room. I'm a pretty friendly person so if we happen to make eye contact, I smile and sometimes wave. However, most of the time I get shot bad these weird looks or worse yet, the person immediately tells their friends and they all persist in glaring and talking about me. I don't know if I look scary or what but it sux when that happens.

It's very difficult. I have low self-esteem so it's hard to look someone in the eye when I'm talking to them.

I'm a big fan of eye contact. Have gotten in some wicked staring matches with randoms on the city bus. Very awkward, but I'm not looking away first. If it goes on too long I give them the slight *raised eyebrows* and this almost always gets me the win. Very rarely I run into a kindred spirit who absolutely will not back down. Just gotta smile then.

I've considered the possibility that this is insane. But crazy people don't know they're crazy... right?
