Having parents that are abusive is obviously worse. Your parents are suppose to be role models and teach you right from wrong. For a person to grow up that way it is saddening. Some learn to be the exact same way as their abusive parents and other say they want to be the exact opposite from them. Atleast when you don't have your parents, you still have other people there who can become that Father figure for you for me there is no better father figure than God and will be like that ALWAYS. Luckily, i have both my parents and nice one

in A LOT of movies, manga, anime, books, etc the protagonists have either no parents or abusive parents. the ones with no parents always tell unappreciative kids that they r lucky to have parents. i think its sometimes not true since having abusive or just plain evil parents can be as bad or worst. what is ur opinion?

I think being in a bad situation is the worst. For example, a kid with no parents may not feel the loss of said parents because they still felt loved and well looked after by their guardians, even when the "guardians" were workers in an orphanage. However, if the orphaned kid was in an abusive or neglectful situation, because their guardians were jackasses, then said kid would think that having no parents was the worst thing in the world and/or assume that their lives would have been better if they had parents.

Likewise, if a child has parents but the parents are abusive or just negligent, they might actually wish they were orphans or, in the case of negligent parents, feel as if they were orphans. So they would think that they would be better off without parents or at least no better off then an orphan despite having parents. Hope that makes sense.

To be honest I don't think I can decide. I think it's a different kind of pain. The pain of never knowing your parents and the pain of never having any. I think it's bad to have abusive parents because it can easily destroy your life. Sure having abusive parents can make you group to being abusive as well but it can make you a better person instead. Just like having no parents, it can make you a bad parent or a really good parent it all just depends on the person.

Having abusive parents, being moved to a family with even worse abusers, and then being notified that your parents, and step parents have been killed so now you need to go to an abusive asylum/orphanage once convicted of murdering both your parents and step parents.

The answer is banana.

I'm not trolling or anything, but in allot of anime and manga, the parents aren't even around. They're all on business trips or some stupid sh*t like that.

Abusive is worse.

Someone who has no parents will learn to get along on their own. They might be more wary of people, but this may make them more mature and less gullible.

Someone who has abusive parents will have to endure the pain of the knowledge that the people who they should be able to trust and rely on are completely the opposite. Furthermore, being surrounded by two people who constantly hurt them will cause the person to wonder if they are inherently flawed, that it's their fault that they are hated, so they will have confidence/self-worth issues. Someone with abusive parents will also have to struggle with a sense of betrayal and abandonment.

However, both situations are terrible, so we are really comparing red apples or green apples in a sense.

abusive parents... having no parents, there would be loneliness. but that's better than having pain and suffering, from somebody whom you have loved. my example, my dad used to be abusive towards me and my brother all the time when i was little. he got better now, after going through major therapy... he was just so angry in life. having someone you know you should love is traumatizing. physically, AND emotionally. i love him more than ever now, and i'm thankful.

Abusive parents are worse. My father died when I was 3 and my mother's ex would beat me when she wasnt home. Its harder to stay strong when you are constantly being put down.

im getting depressed seeing some ppl put their personal experiences in the answers.....

some authors need to look at both side of the parents idea. i can understand if they make their character lonely from having none or have us pity them wen their parents r just the worst. what i hate is wen they make it as if having no parents is the most horrible thing that could happen to the kid. some readers may beg to differ(like me). i watched a movie once-forgot the title- but this kid was an orphan and he asked this guy why he had a dad and didnt even talk to him. well maybe something really bad happened to him in the past. dont make it sound like it's his fault. well thank god the guy's dad was not that bad at all or else i would've hated the movie.

i guess i was already on a side from the beginning........ but everything depends on the situation like if a bratty kid complains how his/her parents suck for disciplining him/her and wish they had no parents. idk anymore
