So busy. I took on too many things.
I work as an Assistant Director at a college in NYC, I usually teach a night course during the regular semesters, I am on a community Board of Directors, and I am constantly traveling between NY and PA. I used to also be a union rep, but I gave it up because it was just too much for me to manage at the same time.

On weekends, I run, hike (although no hiking recently because of the large number of bears and rattlesnakes around my house this year), kayak, and swim.

I assume mine if quite atypical of that of the typical otaku.

I seem to have too much free time, I get bored. When I get bored I unearth weird stuff like this:

How old people got around before airplanes were invented: (Japanese humor. It's just so bizarre at times.)

It's true that in Japan 'Otaku' refers to an individual, with any kind of hobby that they are obsessive over (not just Anime, they could even be stalkers), to the point where they will only ever leave their houses to eat, if even. In Western countries the meaning was lost, so it is taken as more of a term to describe a "hard core" fan. Since you live in Canada it's still okay to use that term if you wish.

What I do in the holidays:
  • I go on Crunchyroll, AFF, Dollars Forum, Diablo 3 Forum and so on
  • Play games (I'll go between my 360 and Final Fantasy XII-2 to my PC and Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition, Diablo 2, WoW, Eden Eternal)
  • Watch music videos (K-Pop, J-Pop and rock) and K-Pop variety shows
  • I watch hours worth of dramas and movies
  • Watch Anime on my laptop or read Manga

By the time I've finished all this it's about 4am in the morning.

Generally if I have school I alternate every night doing one thing if I'm not completely exhausted by homework.
I'm also a dancer so I have to learn choreography and practice takes a few good hours which also takes away from some of my time.

I don't really do much aside from watching anime, so, pretty good I guess.

Oh yeah, and that college thing.

Let's just say Diablo 3 was quite the let down in many aspects, especially considering the big hype before it's release. After a few days I went straight back to Diablo 2. Mind you, lurking the D3 forums and observing all the trolling is truly more interesting than the game itself.

In my early 20s help build AnimeExpo, which took a big chunk of my life. Got married to a mundane (big mistake). Gave up trying to become a professor (too few positions for what I wanted to do), went into the game industry. Got divorced. Now living in Akihabara while telecommuting to my job in the US game industry. My otaku life? Wake up, shop in Akihabara, have lunch at a maid cafe, work, sleep, repeat (well, the money runs out pretty fast so staying at home and gaming also fits into that picture). Somehow it worked out that way, pretty much the life I always wanted...I do the typical events over the weekend like Comiket, Comitia, Sunshine Creation, WonFest, etc. I like to travel around to places that are the basis of anime, and I love to buy figures. Probably won't last forever...but I'm going to enjoy myself while it lasts.

I study sound design and programming at uni, right now during the summer I just watch loads of anime and play games, I've gotten pretty attached to Blacklight:Retribution because it reminds me a lot of ghost in the shell. I guess I'm a bit of an otaku because if my girlfriend wasn't around I'd hardly ever leave the house.
