not sure if im a neet. my job is kinda on call but they haven't called me for 2 weeks and im starting wonder if they'll ever call me again. if i don't accomplish at least one thing each day i get lectured by my mom. so i usually load the dish washer once. sometimes she'll complain if i don't do a second load but one is usually good enough. if i do my own stuff, like wash my clothes or bed sheets she still complains cause she wants the house clean and she doesn't care about my stuff. she wants me to exercise and loose weight so if i do some exercise i can usually get out of cleaning. so i tend to spend most of my time on the computer and crunchyroll except for a small chore to appease the parental units each day.

I don't understand how it can be impossible to get a job. When I was 16 my mother pretty much forced me to get a part time job and I've been constantly employed since then working part time jobs or the occasional full time job. But perhaps my area didn't have as high an unemployment rate. I had three part time jobs when the unemployment rate was supposedly the worst in my area. I worked at Payless, Shopko (in the early dawn from 5-7 I watered plants), and I worked at a random game store.

I never said it was impossible. Just most jobs that I find available tend to be in city two hours away, and most jobs in the area require experienced employees with managerial experience. The rest of it is my own fault one way or another.

I was a NEET once for about a year and a half. That was twelve years ago. It started out okay but then people started telling me they were tired of waking up to find me sleeping on their couch every morning. I then went about four years being underemployed. I had no permanent address and when I ended up at Voc. Rehab. I was labeled "transient" IE homeless. It was then that I realized that I should probably try to find a full time job.

Exactly right.

Since January I have been a NEET and only since the wake up call from my physiotherapist on August the 1st (Yes 6 months since) I was told to start going outside and be more productive.
For those 6 months (with the occasional hour or 2 heading into the town) my routine consisted only of:

wake up
eat
anime
games
eat
anime
games
eat
anime
games
sleep

Agoraphobia took hold like a virus in my body along side the anxiety that comes with it.
Over time not only did this have god knows how many horrible effects on my body, I also felt "scared" to leave my house.
That. is. Extremely. Bad.

Now I'm on a routine of daily exercise, outside activities or whatever to keep me outside of of the house.

I warn you now, despite how awesome and easy being a NEET sounds, it is one of life's most deadly traps.

We are all young, if your a NEET try something new. Find that special something that you can make into a career.

Working, making money doing something you love vs not working, not making money doing something you love.

I know which one I'd pick.

How can any body over the age of 18 stand to live with their parents still? Getting a job or making money to support yourself it isn't that hard go find some under the table work there's lots of it out there until you can find steady employment.

Times may be tough but this is still a rich country with many opportunities. No excuses for laziness. If you are unable to support yourself, then "finding a way to support myself" needs to be your full time job.

I'm not a NEET, since I'm full-time college and work a job the rest of the time.

But, Whenever I'm not doing either of those two things, I do lock myself in my room most of the time. Studying and anime is too much fun for me to journey outdoors, with all those evil UV rays and humans.

I just did my laundry... been needing to for the past three days. I'm too lazy >.>
