I would be a NEET if it weren't for my education. However, I'm not allowed to get a job unless I do something like writing or art (luckily, I enjoy both).

Lol I'm currently a NEET. But I'm applying for jobs all over the place and I got some job interviews this week so lets hope I can change my status.

I don't understand what a NEET is

Non-employed/education/training, so if you are not in school, under training, or working, then you're a NEET. so college students can't be NEET's, while retired people can (technically).

I think retired people have the right to be, a NEET is usually a person who lives with their parents paying no rent, not going to school or working. Others may be from a rich family but do not disire to work/train or go to school and can support themselves their entire life.

I'm not a neet but I have seen nhk which deals alot with the condition. I can certainly sympathize with them, how can you get by being a neet in these times where virtually everyone needs money??

But to the Japanese, isn't retiring almost a punishment since they are no longer contributing to society, which they actually care about. Isn't the second highest suicide rate age group in japan (after cram school students) the elderly.

oh and I did say "(Technically)"

Nope. Never been a NEET.
(Or a freeter or anything like that)

When I was without work, I was in School (usually both at the same time, but I mentioned it for the heck of it).

When school was finished, I always managed to teach myself things or find work.
