So I just started watching anime and I really enjoy it. I finished Claymore and started to watch Full Metal Alchemist.
I'm sure a lot of you know and have seen Full Metal Alchemist but did you really learn anything from it or any other anime out there? I mean even though I just started it I have learned and have even seen some things that just blow my mind! I asked one of my friends about it but he said I was reading to far into it ... I may be doing that but I feel like there can be some good lessons learned from some anime.

For example ... I thought that most people were ignorant, stupid and just wanted to push you down and belittle you so they could make it to the top at any cost ... But after watching Claymore not only did I learn that I was ignorant one but I poisoned every good thing that happened to me ... After I figured this out I changed the way I live life.

We have one chance in this world ... so why not make it what we want and live it to the fullest. Don't stand by while your life passes you cause time is short. This is one of the lessons I learned from Claymore.

I mean there is a lot of anime out there and I feel like we should take a step back and not only look at the art work but look at us and our life.

Please don't take this forum as me calling you all stupid or anything like that haha that's not what I'm trying to say ... I just want to know if you have seen something in an anime that has helped you out in hard times.

Share if you would like I would love to hear your story

Im nothing near as deep and no 1 anime has changed me to any huge extent. tho i lived through a fairly troubled childhood so there wasn't a lot for anime to show me that i haven't seen first hand. tho i will say i know several of my friends have had there eyes opened up somewhat to other people suffering and with the knowledge that life can be far more unforgiving than they have yet experienced they have become (or i like to think they have become) better people for it.

I do use some anime tho as kinda a way to Gage what kinda person i am and use the characters to shape myself into more of the man i wanna be. In the world today its all about fitting in, but i don't want to fit in to the crowed, at least not where i live. people are negative and hateful around here. i try my best to be a good person contrary to how i look.

i guess the short story is yes. anime has helped me in my life. and i hope it has helped plenty of others as well. it puts life in perspective for me and in some cases has helped me open my eyes to others around me.

I am more along the lines of darkace918. No one anime has changed me as a person, but anime has done a lot of other things for me. I come from a really negative and hateful atmosphere where I live. Anime has let me escape into a dream like fantasy for me. Literally knowing that the next episode of a series is coming out next week keeps me grounded because I have something to look forward too. A lot of people have put me down for liking anime, but it is my outlet.

Being older, I don't get find the life changing revelations because I went through that ages ago. I think it's a normal process. And it doesn't matter whether it's a book or an anime that gets you to think about your life. It's just good that you do.

An anime like FMA has a lot of depth to it. Arakawa Hiromu researched a lot about alchemy and the Industrial Revolution to create her world. And she incorporated a lot of philosophical ideas that can really make you think. You don't need to dig deep to enjoy the series, but it certainly doesn't hurt either. :)

And then there is the dark commentary in Humanity Has Declined....

Anyway, it's what you want to make out of it.
