i know that there a ALOT of animes that are intended for both boys and girls..but there are a few that im confused about....

for example "Rosario Vampire"....it looks like its intended for girls...but it has many panty shots or whatever..and im not sure that would be intended for a female audience?.....

i mean i still enjoyed it ...its just gets me confused..XD....also "steel angel Kurumi"

and many others..

so post an anime series and whether you think its intended for boy or girl audience...

the intended target shouldn't bother you, should it? if you like it, you watch it. It'a simple as that.

A couple examples of anime that were meant for both genders are Escaflowne and Gundam Seed.

Very enjoyable, I must add.

Meh. I don't care about the "type" of the anime, so I completely ignore it. If it has a good story, I'll watch it. Personally, I think it is a stupid idea to try and limit your audience by only appealing to a limited subset.

Just watch whatever you enjoy. I never pay attention to the intended target audience, myself. Especially because the ones targeted at girls are often sappy romances, haha.

I don't give a damn who is it intended for. I'll ether be interested in it, or I won't.

I, for one, don't really care.
But I get this feeling that shounen manga is directed more for the males and that shoujo manga is more directed towards the females.

So by that standard, Toriko, Fist of the North Star, and Blue Exorcist must be intended for girls?

Try again... LOL!

I agree about not caring, but yes, shounen manga is targeted at the teenage boy demographic (shounen means boy), shoujo is targeted at the teenage girl market (shoujo means girl). Similarly seinen is aimed at adult men (18-35 yo in general. I guess there isn't anything aimed at old folks like me) and josei is aimed at adult women.

That doesn't mean that there aren't manga, and anime that are derived from them, that are aimed at something outside of the demographic of the magazine it was published in. For instance, Lily Hoshino indicated that, despite the fact that Otome Youkai Zakuro is published i a seinen magazine, it has always been a little bit more 'girly' and not particularly directed at men, though all of the voice actors in the show commented that the combination of action, romance, and comedy in the show made is truly fun for everyone, not one gender or the other.

I say: watch whatever you like!

I realized a long time ago that my tastes in anime usually have more in common with late teenage to mid 20 year-old women than with most men my age, so I embraced my inner teenage girl. (Not in public, since that would be kind of creepy...) Though I probably like eechi content more than most of them... (At least that's what they want you to believe! )

Yaoi - girls and gays
Yuri - girls and boys

I'm a girl and I would watch anything interesting to be honest.
Well maybe except yuri, I don't really care for that one.

One that was intended for boys that surprised me was Angelic Layer. This is a good series for beginners in anime, both boys and girls of all ages. Family friendly is a good thing.
