[rp] abandoned building
Posted 7/17/12

A old rundown buildings with many 8 levels. Its not easy to find and is the vampyre hunters base.
Posted 8/3/12
Kyle strolled into the tired, nearly sagging, husk of a building he had found checking his wrist terminal with every other step to confirm that this was the place. Sure enough, the map marker for the Vampyre Hunter coalition hq was supposed to be right here...

Kyle turned in place a couple times after entering the lobby, then thumbed the holster brake off his Colt, drew the weapon and a flashlight and continued further. He was starting to really really hate this group. Nothing was ever as straightforward as it seemed. He found he actually missed the way they did things back home. Both the Hunter society with its extreme tech presentation and favoritism towards hyper advanced technological decoration motifs and architecture all functional, cold, precise and accurate, starkly contrasted to the Vampyre Society which was decadent, gilded and nearly aristocratic at its higher echelons but laden with centuries of history and sophistication. Many of its members nearly as old as the buildings and manors they inhabited.

But here... in this city. It was like something out of a graphic novel. Murky, muddled colors in everything from the buildings to the people and surroundings, even in the day time. It rained a lot, with the sun making only occasional visits during the twilight hours before fleeing again behind the clouds and this place... a literal dump with a hangar sized building bereft of every convenience or utilization short of concrete flooring.

-"Hello? Anyone here?"

Kyle sighed, racking the slide and chambering a round waiting for the reply of silence. He gripped his flashlight, a small super bright LED bulb that was integrated (built) into the hilt of his fighting knife under his gun arm, blade out. He tuned his ears to the sound of the building and waited....

The floorboards didn't creak as she left the file room and stopped just before going down the stairs, she took cover and grabbed a katana that hung on the wall. How did he find her? "Do you have a tracking device on me that I don't know about?" He's at a disadvantage, this is her home, not his.

Kyle shined the narrow white beam of light emanating from his knife hand in a slow 180 degree arc in front of him, his gun hand was flexed and locked to wherever the beam crossed. He'd had time to attune his senses to the sounds of the vestibule, the smell and the low lighting. A dull rasping of metal drew his attention, his ears perked but he decided to not snap the light in the direction of the noise. No reason to let on he'd heard. By the tone, sounded like a sword coming off a wall placard or cheap mount. Someone was here and they were now armed.

OOC: Okay cool, I wasn't sure if she was talking to herself or broadcasting; okay this is an append to my earlier post then. Just put it here to keep the flow.

IC:

...Kyle froze. He knew that voice. Even in the empty halls of this hollowed out building where sound echoed and returned sounding 3 different variations of pitch he'd know that voice from anywhere. The crazy girl with the wrist launchers. Kyle backpedaled to the front foyer, eyes scanning, keeping both his fighting knife and pistol locked in front of him, the flashlight beam steady. With his back to the doors he reached into his jacket and sheathed his knife drawing the Lambert. At the corners of the walls near the floor boards he fired one splinter round on each wall.

The rounds were shaped micro charges, specifically a miniature anti-personnel mine primed with C4 and a boron carbide shell with thermal proximity detector. in other words, anyone passing in front of the effect radius would be walking in front of small mine and the fuse was heat sensitive. The entrance hallway was small enough that both splinter shells would trigger if a person tried to slip past on either side or down the middle. Kyle would not be attacked from the rear again without warning, he'd learned from the rooftop fight, he had the gouges to prove it.

Folding the Lambert away, Kyle drew his knife again and bit his lip hard enough to draw blood. He let a few drops fall onto the red dots in the groove of the 8 in blade and waited for the blade to change color as he held it in a reverse grip in front of him. The blade slowly shifted from flat uninteresting black to a slick, dark oily purple on steel gunmetal color. The tetradotoxin enhancement of the knife was active, a near instant acting neuro-toxin, fatal on contact. With the hilted side he jabbed the syringe tip into his neck, suppressed a scream and pulled the needle clear, closing it back behind it's protective sheath in the knife handle. Now, he had 10 mins. of protection from his own weapon Ace Card. This time Kyle was playing for keeps. Now it was a simple matter of drawing first blood with the knife and the rest should be cake work. Hell at this point, the pistol was just there for balance and a tactical option.

In all the time he was doing that she stayed in her place at the top of the stairs behind the wall, "It's a coward who seeks a fight in the enemy's home, where they think they are safe and they're defenses down." She really didn't want to destroy this place, it would come out of her pay. Penelope certainly wasn't ready for a fight, her long hair was down and would get in her way, she wasn't geared up with her secret weapons, and though her clothing was flexible, being in boxer shorts and a crop-top, with those moves she'd show the enemy more than she'd like. "Why don't we talk this out? Man to woman, no weapons."

Kyle arched a brow and gave her the quick once over. Barefoot, boxers, crop top, didn't look half bad with her hair down; but otherwise didn't move except to shift his pistol and knife hand in her direction.

-"Oh so now you want to talk, Angel-face?"

His gaze hardened.

-"Go on sweetheart, I'm listening..."

She flinched and gritted her teeth at that then came out of hiding with her sword drawn, since he wasn't lowering his. "FIRST of all, don't call me angel-face and don't call me sweetheart." She came down a step, "SECOND of all, you are not here to kill me-" She came down the last step, "Which brings me to the THIRD of all." She pointed her sword at him, "Get. Out. Of. My. House!" She was definitely in a stance to fight if need be, though her hair kind of fell in her face a bit, adding to her irritation. So she blew some of it back and then looked him in the eyes dead-on to show she was being serious.

Kyle couldn't help it, he cracked a slow sidelong smile as his professional resistance faltered.

-"Is that your big girl voice honeybun? Since you have your frownie face on and are using lists to make yourself look tough and important I can only assume you're taking a pass at being serious, ooh scary."

Kyle laughed a bit and lowered his pistol and knife into a high ready stance.

-"First, baby cakes, I wouldn't be calling you pet names if you'd just given me your damn name when I asked nicely instead of hitting me with a RUSTY LADDER... oh, yeah... I'm still pretty annoyed at that one. Second, I don't know why you think you're so important that anyone would want to send a hired gun to kill you but NO i'm not here to kill you either, at least not paid to anyways. Third, YOUR house my ass. This place is a condemned husk, figures since this shitacular Eastern Vampyre Coalition group never does anything by the books and before you get to thinking you've got some kind of advantage being familiar with the terrain, I put in a call with a buddy of mine. Higher ups on our little Vampyre Hunter council didn't say it was forbidden so I had some tech flown in from home. See this?"

Kyle waggled his left hand slightly.

"This has been reprogrammed to measure my biometrics, it's hardwired into my bloodstream and nervous system. It's a precaution that REAL Vampyre Hunters in the Western Alliance Initiative use to keep a tag on which of their people is no longer a reliable asset. Someone turns, HQ knows the moment it happens. So... if this thing either goes down or I go down, permanently, say... in another unnecessary fight... and my buddy Landry turns this entire city block into a smoking crater before you get to the front door. Do you know what a thermobaric reaction is honey? On a military scale it's the second most devastating destructive effect short of a nuclear bomb. You kill me and a 6000 pound guided demonstration of that will be incinerating the city block with this cracker box shit hole you call a home as ground zero before I hit the ground. However, it's not just limited to large scale, a person can simulate the effect, for suprisingly cheap, with 8 propane gas canisters wrapped in, cordtex 5P detonation cord, linked to a deadman switch on my Hub... and strapped to my chest.

The propane ignites and consumes all the oxygen in the surrounding area creating a massive vacuum that literally causes an implosion. It sets the air on fire. And guess what... I made it from 200 dollars worth of stuff at a hardware store. In short it can turn this entire floor into ruin before you can move 5 feet and my people don't even have to cut a check for expenses. 'disagreement between rogue agents' is the usual write off and you and I just cease to be. Landry's just sorta my team's insurance in case you Houdini another escape. And just so we're clear, a large scale thermobaric reaction will collapse everything down to the foundations. Anything that isn't solid bedrock will be reduced to ash and that includes all hollow objects. Reinforced concrete sewer pipes not withstanding. If you wanted to play in the big leagues, babe... guess what, you're in it. When we crusade against vamps for real where I come from, we don't take chances. We saturate their hide-y holes til there's nothing left. Swords, guns, wrist launchers with needles... I suppose in urban guerrilla operations with large teams and a tactical support group back home directing us via comm link up where our targets are on the ground, those are all well and good but you just don't get by in those operations by being a bitch. Hate to break it to you...

So! You're move, we can start over with introductions or we can both help bury the first spade in the ground of this gorgeous urban redevelopment front by leveling the city block. And just so you know... I don't really have a preference but I do think you're hair looks really sexy down rather than up."

Penelope listened with nervous irritation, the compliment almost set her off again but she steadied herself. With sword still pointed at him she made a sigh, "Alright...so what is it exactly that you want?" She slacked up just a bit.

Kyle sighed, safe'd his pistol though was careful too keep the hammer cocked and lowered his weapon.

-"What I need is a partner. Since I haven't met anyone else the Council had supposedly recruited, You're it. Normally, I work alone but I have tactical support. We do covert operations and kill vampyres when they expose themselves, usually during on foot transit between covens. Downside is, I'm not here on behalf of my group. I'm here alone. Landry and the Whiskey-Victor resources on standby are operating on a series of favors they owe me but support is... restricted. They don't believe that operations outside their area of responsibility or sanctioning is either necessary or prudent. Its the one thing that they and I disagree on."

Kyle looked the young woman in the eye. He put sarcasm aside and his tone took on a hard edge.

"If we're all this city's got, I'm half considering leaving right now. You should too. But, I'm willing to reconsider on one thing..."

Kyle left that proposal hanging in the air for a moment...

"You give me your name and your solemn vow to cooperate with me for the eradication of these monsters; short of that... we're just destined to fail anyways and I walk away. For good. You never have to see me again and we essentially agree to forfeit this city and everyone in it to Vampyre enslavement. Again, it's you're call. I don't have a preference one way or the other.............."

Kyle didn't smile but he didn't frown, his gaze stayed intense... hard, committed. He knew he couldn't do this alone. But considering this girl was all he had as backup, the odds weren't necessarily in their favor. Still, she was nimble and her hand to hand expertise and abilty to cover terrain quickly would be useful in groundside covert missions which was pretty much all they had open to them. He waited tensely for her to make up her mind.

She stared at him seemingly blankly, but really she was thinking of the pros and cons of this deal. Then she slowly sheathed the sword and spoke with her hands on her hips, "Let's get one thing straight. I'm no heroin. I'm after one thing and that's blood, of just ONE vampire..." She shrugged, "Now if that means killing a thousand or two on the way that's perfectly fine with me." She started walking closer, "But know this...as soon as I have her head, our alliance is over. K?" She stopped a few feet in front of him and nodded, "Penelope."
Posted 8/7/12
Kyle smiled genuinely and winked at her.

-"Now that wasn't so hard was it?"

Snapping a quick glance at his Hub timer (3 mins and change of protection left) before he sheathed his fighting knife on his leg and holstered his pistol.

-"Fair enough terms, I'm looking for someone in particular myself. So we have that in common. Can you give me a rundown of what you've gathered so far, Penelope? It's best if we can break down our targets we have to track into major player groups, who they work with, chain of command, high profile marks, escort teams and common means and directions of travel as well as routine behaviors and known accomplices. From there we should be able to define a time and place to make a move and capture one of them."

Kyle looked her in the eye and his smile faded.

-"However we need him talking and conscious or we won't get anywhere on solidifying facts and establishing a plan of action on the rest."

He paused a beat to give her a chance to object or ask questions

-"Unless you have a better idea?"

She sighed and walked into the kitchen to make coffee, "Well, all I've gathered so far is her name, Belle Valorence, and that she is second in command of the human hunters group." She got out a mug for herself, "Who're you looking for? Coffee?"
