Work. Cos you have money, and more freedom than a kid, but you're not old and too tired to do things.

I think it'll be work. Or at least post-college. I'm starting college soon and I have had that feeling of leaving stuff behind lately. But it's also kind of appealing.

Work, if you are smart and major in something you really want/like then its like the golden years of your entire life superseding even the best highschool years. If you're stupid like me and get saddled with something you absolutely abhor it's like the sucking abyss of infinity in which case being a pervy old senile retiree is looking better and better with each passing year.

You reach a certain age in life where physiology starts working against you if physical work is your forte. As a 30-something I used to wonder why 50 year olds to 60+ year olds worked at sedentary style jobs. Now, 30 years later, I understand. Presently, I'm self-employed selling "crap" on the internet no one needs unless they have enough disposable income to afford a hobby. Basically, I'm selling my estate of accumulated stuff while I'm still alive so my wife doesn't have to should I die first......trust me, she worries about this.

Except for my years OTR as a trucker every job I had that followed sounds about like the poster above. I didn't know anyone, never had connections, was never the smartest or the best of the best in any college I attended. The 1 technical job I studied 4 years in a college to prepare for I hated before the 1st year anniversary of work was completed. This is what comes from letting your ego decide your chosen vocation instead of your real ability. After 3 years of that I went back to driving the big rigs.

Some people can work in a pressure environment around other massive egos. Some people are better suited out in the field doing actual physical work. I fall in the latter category. My only regret is not remaining in Washington state back in 1979....although way too many people reside west of the Cascade Range now. Probably just as well I migrated back to the dull and boring Midwest then.
