That being said, I agree with the ones you pointed out. I'd also add Kiddy Grade. After episode 3, it became a very different show than I expected. It's one of the reasons why I started following the 3 episode rule. Cowboy BeBop also started differently, but the switch wasn't quite so abrupt.

I mean if you look at the art, it seems like a really kiddy show . Then I started to watch it with an open-mind out of boredom and grew to like it alot (now I'm eating through all the episodes to catch up)

Didn't really care for that (and mostly because that's not where I expected the story to go--if I'd been expecting it, I would have been fine with it.) Also Astarotte's Toy, which started off distinctly naughty but ended up being just very, very sweet. And I like both naughty and some kinds of sweet so the changed impression was still okay. Most recently Durarara!! Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide The first half-dozen or more episode seemed very "slice of life," with anything "weird" being just rumor. I was happy with that. Then it became very, very supernatural (and still slice of life-ish). I was also very happy with that.

Two months later I was addicted to it. :\ And with Higurashi, I totally forgot how I got into it, but it was when I was, like, seven and I totally just loved it. Still watch it today. And now I realize that Keiichi had a total harem going on.

A couple months ago it was raining outside and I was bored and my friend was going on and on about so I decided to check it out:P I saw it and it looked so flippin stupid!!! Than I watched the first two episodes again and I was hooked just finished it today!
