I may be in the minority here, but beyond the exotic factor, I find sake to be overrated. Not that it's bad, just not as great as people laud it to be.

Give me cognac over sake any day of the week.

Cognac is a sipping drink though. At least that's what I've come to realize. Sake you can take as shots or as bombers.

I do tend to savor my cognac more, rather than gulp it down as fast as I can.

I'm also not a fan of sake being hot. It's just a bit strange to me, I tend to enjoy all my alcoholic drinks being ice cold (besides red wine). Plus, being hot just means that if you don't drink it quick, alcohol is just vaporizing away. XD

lol, yeah the hot Sake was new to me too the first time. but then i saw how much the cold stuff was and said... EFF THAT, give me the hot and some crappy Sapporo brand beer all night long!!! I'd rather get wasted for cheap than really really wasted and regret how much I spent in the morning.

Hot alcohol is awful. One of the many disadvantages of summer. Try whisky with coconut water ice cubes.

Yeah, when I go to a nice Japanese restaurant for sushi (I'm a sushi fiend) and look at the sake prices, it'll basically cost an arm and a leg.

Speaking of getting wasted for cheap, I don't think there's a better way to get wasted for cheap than going to a college bar. Sure they're seedy and can be filled with some really annoying college kids, but their prices can't be beat. I remember on some nights back when I was still in uni being able to get a huge Long Island Iced Tea for like 2 or 3 bucks.

LOL the best part about Sushi is the waitresses where I live. I'm not huge on the food style but the waitresses are pretty cute. College bars... FUUUUUU... you are right though they are cheap and easy. Just like the drunk college girls on the stool right next to ya most of the time.

There are actually many different types of Sake, but if I may make a suggestion you should all try Nigori sake. Its unfiltered and has a cloudy appearance, but it is actually somewhat sweet and creamy instead of being dry like filtered types of sake. Now if you are going to buy some from a store be careful because it spoils pretty fast and has to be stored cold, so if it's just sitting on the shelf at room temp in the store you should pass. Most restaurants actually serve brands made here in the USA like Momokawa (which I quite like).

That being said, Im a scotch or bourbon guy.

I never liked sake until I bought a bottle of this stuff at the suggestion of a very hot waitress.

I havent smoked a cigar in a while but I use to occasionally. When I quit smoking pot I basically quit smoking everything baha.

Sake is disgusting. I was giving a small shot of it by my ex. I was forced to swallow. Never again. I'll stick to tea.

Tried it hot once and didn't really like it. Then again, I don't like alcohol very much at all.... But hot sake was just weird.

I am a soju fan and not a sake fan myself.
Small cup for drinking sake is not designed to get you drank it's more likely enjoying being slowly intoxicated while having a conversation or a meal
