Scariest Movie:
Insidious......the first one.
It's actually not really that scary, but the sound effects, the score, and the suspense was pretty spot on.....I think, the key to making an effective horror film not only lies in it's setting and plot, but also it's soundtrack. So even though it wasn't very scary, the sound effects the movie uses made it seem so.

Scariest Game: I don't really play that many horror games, so I wouldn't know, haha

Silent Hill Series, Still Really scared of staying in a hospital overnight. Hell I still get Goosebumps when I go in for check ups.

Scariest movie, Dont really have one so I'll say "Psycho" (Most recently watched). More of a thriller though.

Scariest movie for me would have to be either Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining"

or David Lynch's "Muholland Drive"

The Last of Us purely cause of how intense it got, when you played through the Metro mission you could feel impending doom around every corner.

I agree with this most the time but for whatever reason it could have been my surround sound system but Silent Hill: The Room freaked the hell out of me. It wasn't the game itself as much as the sounds!

depends on what age I was

at7 the scariest was Attack of the Crab Monsters. In the last 50 years I still stay away from the beach.

at 17 it was Night of the Living Dead

at 27 it was Susperia.

over time I became immune and just chose not to scare myself. However I think the scariest movies are not the ones with
monsters but with humans who are inhumane and act monsterous

Hmm. Scary movies don't really get to me that much, but I'll go with Poltergeist because I spent years as a kid unable to sleep with any kind of doll near me and paranoid about the tree outside my window.

For game, I'll hop on the SIlent Hill bandwagon. The earlier games had a really good balance of different types of horror, and they constantly seemed to be coming up with new things to freak you out.

i can't say scary but definitely creepy was eternal darkness sanity's requiem for the gamecube.

Some of the sanity effects in that game were absolutely awful if you didn't know about them in advance. I think I cried when I thought my save had been deleted because of one of them.

Maybe not as scary, as it is creepy and disturbing. But The Thing always get's to me. Especially that one scene with the dogs...every time. They just knew how to do it back in the days. The effects looked so real and disgusting. They quite literary make me sick. Nowadays they just use CG all over the place. It really doesn't give of the same impact to me as the hand crafted special effects you see in movies like The Thing or The Fly.

To make one example, the 2011 edition of The Thing. The CG just didn't cut it for me. It looked silly, and quite often more funny, than scary or gross.

Cant think of a scary movie off the top of my head right now.

As for games, I would have to go with Silent hill for the PS. Just a classic and is always guaranteed keep you scared... especially if you play it alone at night with all the light off.
