quick question do u think that the big 3 overall hurts the anime and manga industry because for me lately i have noticed i am less interested in anything manga or anime related other than the big 3. I don't know perhaps the stuff coming out lately is not to my liking or maybe the Big 3 has set the bar to high for others to compete with or perhaps even everything coming out seems to be in someway coping the themes of the big 3. Anyway i would love to hear people's opinions on this

I don't think so. You should give the other anime another try. You might find something you like. I watch a lot of anime like more than 5 (Gotta finish them though) and some of them can even beat Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece imo.

What's your favorite genre? My is horror, comedy, action, mystery, drama, psychological, and thriller.

The only one of the so called "big 3" I watch/read is One Piece. I've lost interest in Naruto and I've never liked Bleach. There are many other great series. Toriko for example is a great series and is popular in Japan. Hunter x Hunter is a fantastic series even with all the hiatuses it's still good. The new series Barrage (Sensei no Bulge) is also a good series. To me no series had a greater effect on me like One Piece did, but there are still many great series.

You watch episode 2 of Shin Koihime Musou and tell me you don't like it. Poyopoyo is great if you can put up with the regular amount of advertising on a THREE-MINUTE CARTOON!!!!!!!!!! Also catch Battle Programmer Shirase and Bobobobo no bobobo. Has any of Johji Manabe's stuff been animated?

I wouldn't say they "set the bar", since there are many series that are far better than the "big 3".
All the big 3 do have their strengths, but they also have their weaknesses.

If any "bar" is being set, it is a bar of popularity that other authors can try to beat.
Remember, "big 3" doesn't mean that they are the 3 best, it means that they are the 3 most popular ongoing Anime/Manga.

On an unrelated note:

Yeah, Sensei no Bulge is getting really good with these recent chapters.
Hopefully it keeps getting better.
If Astro gains some more friends, rivals, and recurring enemies, then the series could get amazing.

On the contrary, I feel the 'big three' are quite mediocre.

the "big 3" are pretty lame compared to anime i usually tend to watch in terms of animation and storyline. so i don't think they set a bar for anything except for prolonging a series as long as possible and deteriorating the animation as time passes.

My problem with the big 3 is that i feel like it's too long to start watching them. It's not worth trying to get past all the fillers and terrible arcs when you can just watch another anime that is just as good or even better.

same for me OP is the series that made feel this way to other anime cause no matter how hard i try nothing can compare same as with the manga

i am just beginning to think that there is nothing original out there i miss the days of rurouni kenshin, dragon ball z, yu yu hakashou where is was so new that u never lost interest. the only thing i see out there is a manga called Gamaran that is a true sword fighting manga without any bs and deserves an anime

Toriko and Fairy Tail are definitely on their way up there if you're wanting things similar to Naruto/Bleach/One Piece/DBZ/FMA and that sort of thing.
